Transport infrastructure is one of the important factors contributing to promoting socio -economic development, in which tourism is considered a key economic sector of Binh Thuan. Therefore, the province pays great attention to investing in transport infrastructure to shorten the travel time of tourists when coming to Binh Thuan.

Traffic connection from highway to key tourist areas

When the two expressways Phan Thiet - Dau Giay and Phan Thiet - Vinh Hao are completed and put into use, Binh Thuan has immediately considered connecting the routes from these two expressways to the province's key tourist areas. Binh Thuan provincial leaders believe that traffic infrastructure is one of the important factors for Binh Thuan tourism to take off. Therefore, Binh Thuan province is promoting investment in traffic infrastructure projects to synchronize and further connect the existing traffic system, creating convenience for tourists in traveling to the province's key tourist destinations. In parallel with traffic infrastructure, the locality has been working with businesses and investors to synchronously implement solutions to attract tourists, bringing Binh Thuan tourism to develop commensurate with its existing potential. When the traffic system connects to the province's key tourist areas, especially the city. Phan Thiet has an extremely important meaning in helping Phan Thiet city develop its socio-economy, urban beautification and sustainable tourism development...

Most recently, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai chaired a meeting to listen to a report on the investment plan for the expressway connecting key tourist areas in Ham Thuan Nam district. Accordingly, the route will have its starting point at Km13+300 of Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway in Tan Lap commune, Ham Thuan Nam district, and its ending point at Km4+900 of DT.712 road. On that basis, the Department of Transport has proposed two options for the expressway connecting key tourist areas in Ham Thuan Nam district. Option 1 is the route starting from the expressway intersection connecting to the existing DT.712 road intersecting with National Highway 1A at Km 1732+750 and following the existing DT.712 road to the project area with a total length of about 8.4 km, including 2 sections (extended DT.712 road connecting to the expressway with a length of about 3.5 km, renovating and upgrading the existing DT.712 road with a length of about 4.9 km). Option 2, the route starts from the expressway intersection to the intersection with National Highway 1A at Km 1733+325, then the route runs parallel to the existing DT.712 road and connects to DT.712 road at Km 4+900 to the project area, this is a completely new route with a total length of about 8.1 km, including 2 sections (DT.712 road extended connecting to the expressway with a length of about 3.6 km; renovating the DT.712 section running parallel to the existing DT.712 road and connecting to DT.712 road at Km 4+900 to avoid the existing residential area at the beginning of the route, limiting compensation and site clearance with a length of about 4.5 km).

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai also requested the Department of Transport to coordinate with the Department of Planning and Investment and the People's Committee of Ham Thuan Nam district to add the list of investment projects on the expressway connecting to key tourist areas in Ham Thuan Nam district to the Implementation Plan of Decision No. 1701, dated December 27, 2023 of the Prime Minister approving the Planning of Binh Thuan province for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, with the goal of connecting the route of this project with the expressway and coastal road to key tourist areas of the province. Put the list of projects into the provincial database to implement the next steps.

Develop the entire intra-provincial transport system

Not only developing the traffic system connecting the highway to the province's key tourist areas, Binh Thuan is also making efforts with the central ministries and branches to focus on investing in a number of important traffic projects in the province, especially the intra-provincial routes that have been focused on investment and upgrading in recent times. Up to now, the Hoa Thang - Mui Ne coastal route and the Mui Ne - Phu Hai section have been completed and put into operation. Continue to repair and upgrade a number of road sections on coastal routes and main traffic routes connecting to the province's tourist areas. The province also directed the review and investment in a number of branch roads to the sea to better serve the needs of people and tourists. Currently, the province is continuing to upgrade and expand sections of the coastal route from Phan Thiet to Mui Ne, and DT.719 road from Ke Ga (Ham Thuan Nam) to La Gi. In addition, there are 3 provincial roads that have requested the Central Government to support the investment budget for key and urgent development, namely DT.719B Phan Thiet - Ke Ga road, designed to be 25.4 km long, 16 m wide, with a total investment of nearly 1,000 billion VND; DT.719 Ke Ga - Tan Thien road, designed to be 32.4 km long, 8 m wide, with a total investment of 600 billion VND; DT.711 road has its starting point at the intersection of National Highway 28 (Ham Thuan Bac) crossing National Highway 1A, its ending point at the intersection of coastal axis DT.706B, 41 km long, with a total investment of 1,490 billion VND.

In order for Binh Thuan to become a national tourist center, investment in improving transport infrastructure is one of the prerequisites to make the most of all social resources to create momentum for Binh Thuan tourism development.
