Applying BIM to create optimal working methods

On May 30, 2024, the Institute of Construction Economics (Ministry of Construction) coordinated with Autodesk Company and the Department of Construction of Hai Duong province to organize a workshop on "Disseminating the roadmap for applying Building Information Modeling (BIM)" in the province, attracting a large number of delegates from departments, branches, sectors and local businesses to attend.

The workshop in Hai Duong is part of a series of workshops to raise awareness of BIM within the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Autodesk and the Institute of Construction Economics signed in September 2023, aiming to disseminate the roadmap for BIM adoption and raise awareness of this technology for departments, agencies, and businesses in the construction sector nationwide. Accordingly, Autodesk will act as a strategic partner, supporting the Institute of Construction Economics in promoting BIM adoption and digital transformation in the construction industry.

The workshop focused on important contents from an overview of BIM, policies and guidelines for applying BIM in Vietnam, digital workflows for BIM implementation, submission and approval, to some successful BIM application projects in Vietnam, integrating BIM-GIS in smart urban planning and construction management,...

Sharing at the workshop, Dr. Ta Ngoc Binh - Head of the Department of Investment Economics and Digital Construction Research, Institute of Construction Economics emphasized the importance of BIM in improving state management capacity in construction, as well as improving industry performance.

Digital transformation in the construction industry is an inevitable trend, in which BIM is not only a technology, but also a new working method, helping to optimize the design, construction and project management process, minimizing risks and saving costs in projects.

Hai Duong "bright spot" in promoting BIM application in the construction industry

Dr. Nguyen Tan Vinh - Director of the Institute of Construction Economics hopes that Hai Duong will become one of the leading provinces in applying BIM in Vietnam and emphasizes the importance of digital transformation and BIM application in the construction industry, while affirming the key role of the Institute in coordinating with local construction departments and partners such as Autodesk to promote this process.

“We hope that the roadmap for applying BIM in Hai Duong will not stop at today's workshop but will continue to be vigorously implemented in the future with the commitment of all parties,” said Mr. Vinh.

Autodesk representative, Ms. Truong Thuy Linh also expressed confidence in Hai Duong's success in pioneering BIM application.

After Hai Duong, similar workshops will be held in Hai Phong, Quang Ninh and many other provinces. With extensive experience and advanced technology, Autodesk is confident in working side by side with the Institute of Construction Economics, departments and Vietnamese enterprises to build the future of BIM in Vietnam,” Ms. Linh shared.
