The cause was given by EVN, in recent days, the water level of hydroelectric reservoirs has been raised, and some thermal power plants with problems have been fixed.
Along with that, thanks to the close, drastic and timely direction of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises and the sharing and coordination of leaders of provinces and cities, the electricity supply situation has been positively improved.
From tomorrow, June 23, power supply in the North will be guaranteed (Illustration photo: EVN).
It is worth mentioning that energy enterprises such as Vietnam National Coal and Minerals, Dong Bac Corporation, and Oil and Gas have coordinated in providing fuel (coal, gas) for electricity production and maintaining the operation of generators.
However, because the Northern power system does not have reserve capacity, extreme situations may still occur in the coming time, leading to load adjustment and power reduction.
Mr. Tran Viet Hoa - Director of the Electricity Regulatory Authority - informed that in recent days, the water flow to the Northern hydroelectric reservoirs has improved, the current water level of Son La, Lai Chau, Tuyen Quang, and Ban Chat reservoirs have all accumulated 4 to 7 meters higher than the dead water level.
Lai Chau has a small reservoir, so the water level is approximately 15 meters higher than the dead water level. However, at present, these reservoirs are still limited in mobilization to prepare for the next heat wave.
“In the extreme case of no flood, the Northern region can still use the remaining water in the lake combined with the natural water flow to the lakes to meet the load demand, however, the ability to store water will be difficult,” said Mr. Hoa.
In the Central and Southern regions, electricity supply is guaranteed and there is no need to run beams. In some cases of unusually high load or incidents with multiple thermal power sources, DO oil-fired sources can be flexibly mobilized to meet the demand.
According to data from the National Power System Control Center, on June 21, the system's peak capacity continued to increase to 41,514.7 MW, with the total system load reaching 852.3 million kWh.
Statistics show that the total load of the power system on June 21 reached 852.3 million kWh, down 4.3 million kWh compared to June 20. Of which, the North is estimated at about 398.9 million kWh, the Central region is about 81.5 million kWh, and the South is about 371.2 million kWh.
Regarding the structure of power mobilization on June 21, 2023, the total output mobilized from hydropower was about 204.1 million kWh, an increase of 7 million kWh compared to June 20 (the North was 74 million kWh); Coal-fired thermal power mobilized 453.7 million kWh (the North was 269.5 million kWh); Gas turbines mobilized 97.1 million kWh; renewable energy electricity was over 71.9 million kWh, of which wind power was 22.2 million kWh, the highest capacity at 14:00 reached 1,497.6 MW, Farm solar power mobilized 49.7 million kWh, the highest capacity at 12:00 reached 6,770.2 MW. Oil power does not need to be mobilized.
To improve electricity supply in the future, EVN Group hopes that electricity customers will continue to use electricity economically, safely and effectively.
