According to the Vietnam Register, which has just approved two recalls, the affected models are the Mercedes-Benz C200 W206, assembled domestically, and the S450 V223 imported from Germany. In total, 200 Mercedes-Benz C200s assembled domestically and 55 Mercedes-Benz S450s imported completely from Germany will have to undergo inspection and replacement of the fuel pump assembly.

The problem is caused by a reduced ability of the fuel pump under certain conditions, which can lead to a failure. This can cause the recalled vehicles to lose power automatically while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or accident.

The recall and repair period is expected to last from September 28, 2023 to December 31, 2027. Owners of recalled vehicles can bring their vehicles to authorized Mercedes-Benz Vietnam dealers and service stations for free inspection and repair, with an estimated repair time of 1.5 hours.

This is not the first time Mercedes-Benz Vietnam has had to recall vehicles due to fuel-related issues. Last December, they recalled nearly 2,600 vehicles due to a similar issue, including domestically assembled models (C200, E180, E200, E300 and GLC 200) and vehicles imported from Germany (AMG GT 53 4Matic, GLS 450 4Matic, Maybach GLS 480 4Matic, S450 and V250).
