The recall covers high-end models such as the GLS, Maybach GLS, GLE and AMG GLE. In total, 1,871 Mercedes-Benz vehicles, including the GLS 450 4MATIC, GLE 450 4MATIC, AMG GLE 53 4MATIC, Maybach GLS 480 4MATIC and Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC models manufactured between June 2019 and December 2022, will be imported from the Mercedes-Benz factory in Stuttgart, Germany.
The cause of the recall is that the negative connection (ground connection) of the 48V battery wire to the vehicle body under the front passenger seat may have become loose during assembly. This leads to increased connection resistance, causing an abnormal increase in temperature in this area, posing a risk of fire or explosion.
To address the issue, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam dealers will inspect and repair affected vehicles free of charge. The work is expected to take approximately one hour per vehicle, and the program will run until December 31, 2029.
Not only this recall, previously on March 18, the Vietnam Register also announced the recall of 474 Mercedes-Benz vehicles of the GLC, S 450 4MATIC, Maybach S 450 4MATIC, GLS 450 4MATIC, Maybach GLS 480 4MATIC and Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC models manufactured from March to December 2022. The cause of this recall is due to a fuel pump failure.
In addition, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam has also recalled 432 E-Class vehicles manufactured in Vietnam from June 2021 to January 2023 due to similar errors.
