France Striker Kylian Mbappe missed a penalty kick that was confirmed by VAR, but scored a rebound goal in the 89th minute to help PSG win 3-2 at Brest in round 11 of Ligue 1.
The drama at the Francis-Le Blé stadium began in the 84th minute, when substitute Randal Kolo Muani exchanged passes with Mbappe and entered the penalty area. Muani touched the ball and fell after colliding with home defender Lilian Brassier, allowing Bizot to catch the ball. Mbappe and Fabian Ruiz immediately ran to argue with the referee.
It wasn't until the 89th minute that play resumed and Mbappe took a penalty. His low shot to the left corner was blocked by the Brest goalkeeper, but the ball rebounded to the right position for the 24-year-old striker to score the rebound into the empty net, sealing a 3-2 victory.

Immediately after Mbappe scored, coach Luis Enrique replaced him with defender Nordi Mukiele to preserve the one-goal advantage. On his way off the pitch, when booed by Brest fans, the PSG superstar responded by holding up two fingers, implying that he had just scored a brace.
During his 89 minutes on the Francis-Le Ble pitch today, Mbappe touched the ball 43 times, passed 71% accurately with four key passes, successfully dribbled three times, shot five times and scored two goals.
Mbappe's previous goal came in the 28th minute. After Lee Kang-in's pass, Mbappe sprinted down the left flank, turned inside and fired low into the near corner, leaving goalkeeper Marco Bizot rooted to the spot. The French striker scored the same goal as he did in the 3-0 Champions League win over Milan in midweek.
With his double against Brest, Mbappe has now scored 251 goals at club level in all competitions, including 27 with Monaco and 223 with PSG. He achieved this feat eight years after scoring his first goal in Monaco's match against Troyes on February 20, 2016.

In this match, 17-year-old midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a cannon shot from outside the box. After Mbappe doubled the gap, Brest brought the match back to the starting line thanks to goals from Romain Del Castillo and Steve Mounie. PSG struggled for the remaining time before benefiting from VAR and taking three points thanks to Mbappe's rebound.
The 3-2 victory helped PSG rise to second place in Ligue 1 with 21 points, one point behind Nice. In the next round on November 3, Mbappe and his teammates returned home to face Montpellier.
