Vietnam Airlines flight VN50 departing from Heathrow Airport (UK) to Ho Chi Minh City at 5:00 p.m. (UK time) on July 15 had to make an emergency landing at Dubai Airport (United Arab Emirates) after 7 hours and 17 minutes of flight to rescue passengers.
Specifically, when discovering that passenger VA sitting in seat 19C (36 years old, French nationality) had health problems, the crew called for the support of a volunteer doctor on the flight and performed emergency operations, but the passenger's health condition did not improve.
The crew immediately notified and communicated directly with Vietnam Airlines' operations center via the in-flight communication system and decided to land at the nearest airport, Dubai Airport, at 8:55 a.m. on July 16 (United Arab Emirates time) to provide emergency care and ensure the health and safety of passenger VA.
Vietnam Airlines flight VN50 had to make an emergency landing at Dubai airport to rescue passengers.
Since Dubai airport is not a regular destination, the airline does not have any representative staff there. To quickly assist passengers and their relatives in applying for visas and completing immigration procedures, Vietnam Airlines contacted and closely coordinated with the ground and medical departments of Dubai airport to receive and send staff along with passengers and their relatives to the hospital in Dubai for emergency treatment.
Currently, the passenger’s health has stabilized and he is being cared for by the hospital and his family. The airline representative is currently in regular contact to inquire about his health status and continue to assist him when necessary.
After the passengers were taken to the emergency room, flight VN50 was refueled and took off to continue its journey to Ho Chi Minh City as originally planned. The flight landed safely at Tan Son Nhat Airport at 5:43 p.m., 5 hours and 13 minutes behind schedule.
It is known that this is not the first time Vietnam Airlines has decided to change its flight schedule due to the health of passengers. Previously, the airline has also postponed flights or made emergency landings many times in cases where passengers had serious health problems and needed timely assistance .
