At noon on January 9, residents in Dien Nam Bac ward (Dien Ban town, Quang Nam province) said that a plane crash had just occurred in the area.
Specifically, at around 11:20 a.m. the same day, local residents heard an explosion. Immediately after, a blue plane (like a training plane) crashed right behind a resident's garden.
At nearly 12 o'clock, ambulances and rescue forces arrived. Authorities have cordoned off the area where the incident occurred to assist in the investigation.
On the afternoon of January 9, Vice Chairman of Dien Ban Town People's Committee (Quang Nam Province) Nguyen Xuan Ha confirmed that he had received information about the plane crash in the town.
According to the leader of Dien Ban Town People's Committee, it is still unclear what type of plane it was and whether there were any casualties.
Mr. Pham Duc Cong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Nam Bac Ward (Dien Ban Town, Quang Nam Province) confirmed that a plane crash had just occurred in the area, and functional forces were urgently on the scene to provide rescue.
According to Mr. Cong, at 11:20 today, local people heard a loud explosion in the sky, then saw a military plane crash near a residential area in Vinh Ninh block (Dien Nam Bac ward).
“After the explosion, people saw the military plane crash, the two pilots parachuted out safely. When the plane crashed, it damaged Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chin’s house; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung was injured, and was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment,” said Mr. Cong.
At 1:30 p.m., many forces including soldiers, police, militia, etc. were present at the scene of the plane crash.
Outside the scene, police forces coordinated with soldiers to cordon off the area; assigned officers to guard many surrounding houses.
At the scene, authorities are investigating the cause of the incident. Parts of the crashed plane are being collected.
