Ho Chi Minh City, July 9, 2024 – Manulife Vietnam celebrated its 25th anniversary, marking a quarter century of the Company's presence and operations in the Vietnamese market.
As a global financial group headquartered in Canada, Manulife entered the Vietnamese market in 1999 and is the first foreign-invested life insurance company licensed to operate in Vietnam. Currently, Manulife Vietnam is the company with the highest total investment capital in Vietnam in the life insurance market, with a charter capital of nearly 1 billion USD. Serving nearly 1.5 million customers nationwide, over the past 25 years, Manulife Vietnam has paid more than VND 38,291 billion in health, medical and maturity benefits to customers, helping customers receive financial support in times of need. On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, Manulife Vietnam commits to long-term investment in public health by announcing the launch of the "Clean - Smart - Green Living" program. "Clean - Smart - Green Living" is a community health program designed to improve the physical and mental health of Vietnamese people, according to three criteria: Clean Eating, Smart Understanding, and Green Living. On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, the program focuses on raising awareness about protecting digestive health as well as preventing stomach cancer. Within the framework of the program, Manulife will coordinate with the Vietnam Young Physicians Association to organize free general health check-ups and HP screening programs for people in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. At the same time, messages on preventing HP infection and stomach cancer will be widely disseminated by Manulife Vietnam on public media. For customers, Manulife Vietnam will organize seminars with the participation of leading experts and doctors to share skills and methods to prevent stomach cancer and HP bacteria.
Ms. Tina Nguyen - General Director of Manulife Vietnam shared about the community program "Clean - Smart - Green Living".
This campaign stems from the fact that stomach cancer is one of the five most common cancers today, with the rate of people suffering from the disease increasing and tending to be younger. Worryingly, the bacteria Helicobacter Pylori (HP), the main cause of stomach cancer, is still not properly recognized by many Vietnamese people. According to data from the Ministry of Health, up to 70% of Vietnamese people are infected with HP bacteria and more than 80% of stomach cancer cases are related to this bacteria. Ms. Tina Nguyen, General Director of Manulife Vietnam , said: "We are very proud to launch the community program "Clean - Smart - Green Living" on the occasion of Manulife's 25th anniversary in Vietnam. This program not only raises awareness of digestive health but also demonstrates Manulife's commitment to protecting and improving the quality of life of Vietnamese people". Mr. Nguyen Huu Tu, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association , shared: " The rate of HP bacteria infection in Vietnam is very high, however, we still do not have effective communication campaigns to raise people's awareness of the dangers of this bacteria. Therefore, we appreciate the purpose and practical values that Manulife Vietnam wants to bring to the community and are very happy to accompany Manulife in this program. We believe that, through the free health check-up and HP screening program, people's awareness of preventing digestive diseases, especially stomach cancer, will be significantly improved". To launch the program, on July 6, the first HP bacteria screening and free medical examination event was organized by Manulife in collaboration with the Vietnam Young Physicians Association in Hanoi. The event examined and tested more than 1,000 low-income people for free. At the press conference, Mr. Ngo Trung Dung, Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Insurance Association emphasized: “Manulife Vietnam's innovation efforts in recent times, from improving customer service, sales processes to insurance product initiatives, have contributed positively to the development of the insurance industry and strengthened customer confidence.
