Cheap three-sentence offering tray attracts customers on God of Wealth's day

This year, the three-vessel offering trays are only 100,000-300,000 VND, 10-30% cheaper than the same period last year.

January 10 is the God of Wealth's day, so items such as snakehead fish, crayfish, roast pork, crab, sugarcane, and other offerings to the God of Wealth are in high demand. This year, due to the trend of tightening spending, consumers choose cheap three-piece offerings priced at only 100,000-300,000 VND, a decrease of 10-30% compared to the same period last year.

Closing 200 orders for the 100,000 VND three-piece set, Ms. Hanh in Tan Binh District (HCMC) said that this year the price of green-legged shrimp is 30% cheaper than the same period last year. Similarly, the price of roast pork and snakehead fish has not fluctuated much, so the price of the three-piece set has become affordable and decreased by 30%.

"This year's three-course tray includes three crayfish, a piece of pork and three boiled eggs - three main dishes that are indispensable in the three-course set. Last year, this set cost 150,000 VND," said Ms. Hanh.

To make the offering tray more eye-catching, Ms. Lan Anh in Hanoi said that this year she sells the three-dish tray for 300,000 VND, while last year it was up to 400,000 VND.

"Because the ingredients are cheaper than every year, the price of the God of Wealth offering tray is better than every year. The number of early orders has skyrocketed," she said.

The three-alms offering tray combo including roast pork, shrimp, crab, boiled meat, eggs... is also advertised quite bustlingly in Facebook sales groups.

The Facebook page of a restaurant chain in Dong Da (Hanoi) posted a four-course offering tray for the God of Wealth for 495,000 VND, including three large steamed giant freshwater prawns, 300-350 grams of crispy roast pork, a set of five gold-bag shaped buns, and a plate of sticky rice with gac fruit printed with the word “fortune”. The three-course combo without prawns is sold for 390,000 VND per tray.

"This year we are running new sets, selling combos at reasonable prices, so customers are also interested in it," the restaurant owner shared. On this occasion, the restaurant received nearly 600 orders, a slight increase compared to last year.

According to establishments selling three-plate offerings, in addition to the stable or even decreasing price of raw materials this year, many establishments also reduce additional costs to have competitive prices and attract customers.

"Instead of hiring more employees, my family works together and delivers to customers," Ms. Hanh explained why the offering trays are cheaper than every year.

Besides the cheap offerings , a survey at traditional markets in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi showed that the prices of goods did not fluctuate much. Only a few products increased in price by 5-15% such as gerbera daisies, lotus seeds, and green-legged shrimp.

On the contrary, items such as roast pork, snakehead fish, and crab are relatively stable, equivalent to last year due to abundant supply.

Pork prices range from 100,000 to 140,000 VND per kg, large tiger prawns are around 280,000 to 400,000 VND per kg, 23-25 ​​rock tiger prawns per kg are 170,000 to 300,000 VND, and Ca Mau crabs, 4 per kg, are around 400,000 to 450,000 VND.

The selling prices of fruits and vegetables are mostly stable compared to before and after Tet. Compared to normal days, the prices of fruits only increased slightly by about 5%.

In addition, many products "following" the God of Wealth Day are also cheaper than every year and attract customers. Some types of gold bar-shaped cakes are made from baked cakes with pineapple, green bean, coconut milk, jelly... with prices ranging from 10,000-30,000 VND per cake depending on ingredients and size. Gold jar-shaped buns and gold bars are also chosen by many people with prices of 60,000-120,000 VND for a tray of 5 pieces.

Hoc Mon wholesale market also said that the amount of goods coming to the market this year is quite abundant. Every night, 6,000 pigs come to the market, and about 1,000 tons of vegetables and fruits.

Although the quantity of goods is abundant, traders say that purchasing power is still weaker than in previous years. People are tightening their spending, so the value of orders is reduced. In previous years, they spent several million VND to buy offerings on the God of Wealth's day, but now the value of most orders is only 200,000-300,000 VND. In addition, this year, workers come to Ho Chi Minh City to work later, so purchasing power is still sluggish. Therefore, at traditional markets, many traders still close their stalls and wait until after the 10th to resume business.
