Farmers in Loc Ha district (Ha Tinh) are focusing on developing organic agricultural production and circular agriculture to produce clean, quality and safe products.
Leaders of Loc Ha district inspected the first organic pig farming model in the area of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thoa (in Thinh Loc commune) in February 2023.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thoa in Hong Thinh village (Thinh Loc commune) is the first person in Loc Ha to build a model of cooperation with Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company to raise organic pigs. In the first batch, Ms. Thoa raised 2 sows and 20 pigs. With the guidance of the Center for Application of Science and Technology and Protection of Plants and Livestock of Loc Ha district, and the support of enterprises, after nearly 5 months of raising pigs, Ms. Thoa sold the first batch of pigs with a total weight of 1,520 kg (average 76 kg/pig), earning a profit of nearly 10 million VND (500 thousand VND/pig).
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thoa shared: “The first batch shows positive signs, pork is sought after by consumers, the risks of raising pigs are limited, and idle working days are taken advantage of. 2 sows gave birth to the first batch of 20 piglets (10 days ago). They are being carefully cared for so that the family can develop a commercial pig herd. If we are proactive in breeding, know how to take advantage of available food sources, master the process and techniques... then the following batches can achieve a profit of 900 thousand - 1 million VND/pig”.
The "clean" pig farming linkage model of Ms. Nguyen Thi Chien in Thach My commune.
With the goal of replicating organic pig farming models that apply biosafety measures, more than half a month ago, Ms. Nguyen Thi Chien in Huu Ninh village (Thach My commune) invested in raising 2 sows and 20 pigs. The pigs are growing well, raised without antibiotics, lean meat additives, preservatives, or growth stimulants, focusing on environmental protection and always receiving attention and support from the Center for Application of Science and Technology and Protection of Plants and Livestock of Loc Ha district, local authorities, and Que Lam enterprises.
From the positive signals of previous households as well as expectations for a new farming direction, Mr. Phan Trong Hanh in Ha An village (Thach My commune) boldly invested more than 200 million VND to cooperate with Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company to raise organic pigs, with a scale of 5 sows and 40 pigs/litter. The two parties have signed a cooperation contract, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the local government are creating maximum conditions so that the breed can be released at the end of November.

With the goal of developing sustainable production, increasing profits, reducing risks, and having quality products to serve consumers, in early March 2023, Mr. Dang Quang Thanh (Ich My village, Ich Hau commune) invested 800 million VND to build 14 cement tanks (10 - 15 m2 / tank) in his house to pilot raising 10,000 eels in a mud-free environment, with water treated in a recirculating environment.
Thanks to good care, support from science and technology and experience, after 8 months of raising, Mr. Thanh started selling eels weighing 4-5 fish/kg. This batch, Mr. Thanh harvested more than 10.5 tons of commercial eels, earning a profit of 198 million VND. Thanks to the effectiveness, many farmers in the area are coming to visit, learn and replicate.

Currently, localities are prioritizing the development of high-tech agriculture, organic agriculture, circular agriculture associated with agricultural product processing, sustainable protection of the ecological environment, adaptation to climate change, ensuring safety and health for farmers. These models initially have shown good economic efficiency, good resistance to diseases, reduced farming and planting costs and produced quality products, so they are increasingly expanding in scale and multiplying in quantity.
Many production and livestock models aim for clean products such as: 2-phase sea crab farming in Mai Phu commune with a scale of 1 hectare of earthen pond and 1,000 indoor breeding boxes with 10,000 seeds/batch; growing organic watermelon and sweet potatoes in Nam Son village, Thinh Loc commune with a scale of 0.7 ha/4 households; trial production of new rice varieties in the spring crop of 2023 (Long Huong 8117, CT 6217, Hana 318, BG6) in Hong Loc and Ich Hau communes...
