Hanoi National University Aptitude Test (HSA)
This year, Hanoi National University organizes 6 HSA exams with a scale of 84,000 exams, for candidates to register from February 18.
When registering, candidates choose the location, date, and session of the exam, with a maximum of two sessions, at least 28 days apart. The registration system only allows an account to log in and operate on one computer device at the same time. The exam fee is 500,000 VND per candidate per session.

The HSA is a computer-based test that takes 195 to 199 minutes to complete. It consists of three parts, including multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank questions in Mathematics (50 questions, 75 minutes), Literature - Language (50 questions, 60 minutes), and Natural and Social Sciences (50 questions, 60 minutes). Parts 1 and 3 will have 1-3 additional unscored test questions.
Candidates can check their exam results and receive their certificates within 14 days. Currently, more than 90 universities use the results of this exam for admission.
Ho Chi Minh City National University's Aptitude Test
Ho Chi Minh City National University will hold two rounds of competency assessment exams on April 7 and June 2. The registration portal for the first round has opened and will last until March 4. The school has not yet announced the registration schedule for the second round. The exam fee is 300,000 VND per time.
The first round of the exam took place in 24 localities including: Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, An Giang, Can Tho, Kien Giang, Bac Lieu, Thua Thien Hue, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh. The first round of exam scores were announced on April 15.
The second round was held in 12 localities, including: Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Tien Giang, An Giang. The school announced the results on June 10.
The Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test consists of 120 multiple-choice questions, with three parts: Language use; Mathematics, Logical thinking and Data analysis; Problem solving. Candidates take the test in 150 minutes, with a score of 1,200.
105 schools use the exam results as a method of admission. This is the largest capacity assessment exam, with more than 100,000 candidates taking the exam last year.
Thinking assessment test of Hanoi University of Science and Technology
This year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will organize 6 rounds of thinking assessment exams in Hanoi, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Hai Phong, Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Da Nang. Candidates can take the exam an unlimited number of times, but in the following rounds, the system will give priority to those taking the exam for the first time. The fee for each exam is 450,000 VND.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology said that the content and format of the 2024 thinking assessment test will remain the same as last year, consisting of three parts: Mathematical Thinking (60 minutes), Reading Comprehension (30 minutes) and Scientific Thinking/Problem Solving (60 minutes). The questions are constructed in the form of multiple choice, including: choosing the correct answer, true/false, drag and drop and short answer.
The school issues a certificate valid for two years for candidates to use in applying to schools that accept this exam.

Exam of Hanoi National University of Education
2024 is the third year that Hanoi National University of Education organizes the competency assessment exam. The exam date is May 11 at three locations, including Hanoi National University of Education, Quy Nhon University and University of Education - University of Da Nang.
Candidates register for the exam from March 15 to April 15. The fee is 200,000 VND per subject. The exam schedule is as follows:

In which, Literature has 30% multiple choice questions and 70% essay questions, English has a ratio of multiple choice and essay questions of 80-20%, the remaining subjects are 70-30%. Candidates do the test directly on paper.
Currently, there are 9 schools using the results of this exam for admission. The exam results will be announced before June 1.
Exam of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education
In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education will organize 3 competency assessment exams, one more than last year. The registration and exam schedule is as follows:

The exam consists of 6 subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, English. Candidates take the test on a computer.
The time for the Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology exams is 90 minutes, consisting of 50 questions, including 35 multiple-choice questions with four options and 15 short answer questions. The Literature exam consists of 20 multiple-choice questions with four options, a social essay, and the time for the exam is similar. The English exam alone has a time limit of 180 minutes with four parts: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
Candidates can register for one or more exams, depending on their needs and admission combinations. The exam is open to both 11th and 12th graders and those who want to take the exam.
Exam of Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City
Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City organizes its own capacity assessment exam for the second year. The school reserves 10-40% of the quota for standard programs for admission based on the results of this exam.

Exam of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (Vietnam - France University)
The separate exam of Hanoi University of Science and Technology is with separate subject combinations for each major. Candidates who register for a major will take the exam in that subject combination.
To participate, candidates must have an average score of 6.5 or higher in Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and IT in Grade 11 and 12. Dual degree programs require students to have an additional English certificate of IELTS from 6.0 or TOEFL iBT from 60. For Pharmacy, the requirement is an average score of 7 to 8.8 and IELTS from 5.0 or TOEFL iBT from 35 points or higher.

Exam of Vietnam - Germany University
The school continues to organize its own exam with the TestAS (Test for Academic Studies), which includes a core test and a subject specific test. This is a test to assess the university study ability of foreign students in Germany. The exam fee is 1.5 million VND.
In addition, candidates must take an English test, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, at a cost of VND250,000. The school plans to take the test in May.
Last year, the Ministry of Public Security and Saigon University also organized their own entrance exams and competency assessments. However, these units have not yet announced information about this year's separate exams.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, in 2022, schools will reserve more than 30,000 admission quotas based on scores from competency and thinking assessment exams. The admission rate by this method accounts for about 2% of the total number of candidates admitted by all methods.
It is expected that competency and thinking assessment exams will be larger in scale and used by more schools in 2025 - when the high school graduation exam changes to suit the first batch of students graduating under the 2018 general education program.
