Dinh Thay Thim Cultural and Tourism Festival: Rich in traditional folklore

The 2023 Dinh Thay Thim Cultural - Tourism Festival will officially take place from October 28 - 30 (September 14 - 16 of the lunar calendar), at Dinh Thay Thim and Tam Tan branch (La Gi town, Binh Thuan) with many traditional folk tourism, cultural and sports activities.

Arriving at the Thay Thim Palace a week before the festival, the preparation work was completed by the members of the management board and the branches, ready to welcome visitors to the festival. The nearly 2 km road leading pilgrims to the Thay Thim Palace this year has been renovated, spacious and airy, making it very convenient for visitors to travel. Banners, slogans, flags, pennants, etc. have been decorated by the Festival Organizing Committee along both sides of the road leading to the palace to welcome pilgrims to the festival.

The highlight of the festival is the comprehensive art program taking place at the opening ceremony at 4:30 p.m. on October 28 performed by artists and actors from Ho Chi Minh City, including a staged scene about "The Legend of Thay Thim". In addition to honoring the merits of Thay Thim, the program also has special art performances praising the attractive features of tourism in La Gi town in particular, Binh Thuan in general, welcoming the National Tourism Year 2023 "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence". The opening night will be broadcast live on Binh Thuan Television - BTV and some regional TV stations...".

Coastal folklore

In particular, this year's festival is more unique and diverse, with more folk games such as dragon fruit harvesting competition, blindfolded pot smashing, blindfolded duck catching... In addition, a number of activities take place continuously before and during the festival associated with the celebration of Dinh Thay Thim Festival such as: La Gi Town Open Bicycle Race 2023, scheduled to take place on October 22; Open Beach Volleyball, scheduled to take place on October 24; Bonsai Exhibition, scheduled to take place on October 26 - 31; Exhibition introducing products of businesses in the town, scheduled to take place on October 26 - November 5.

The Cultural - Tourism Festival of Dinh Thay Thim is not simply a traditional folk cultural festival, but also has historical and cultural significance, recording the merits of our ancestors, attracting thousands of visitors from all over the world to visit Thay Thim and participate in the festival activities. From the traditional rituals of the Cultural - Tourism Festival of Dinh Thay Thim, pilgrims can feel most clearly the positive values of humanistic traditions, spiritual values, and the lives of Thay Thim, who have been closely associated with the land of Tam Tan in the past and have an important position in the spiritual life of the working people of La Gi town until now. People tell each other that in the past, in Quang Nam, there was a Taoist priest with a compassionate heart, superior martial arts, and often had noble deeds that were admired by the villagers. Because he was unjustly judged by the king, the Taoist priest and his wife drifted to the South to seek refuge. Tam Tan, a remote, prosperous village, became the final resting place of the Taoist priest and his wife. And from here, the legends and virtues of the Taoist couple were wholeheartedly praised, and the villagers of Tam Tan affectionately called the Taoist couple Master and Aunt. The story of Master and Aunt is a folk legend passed down through many generations, with many positive elements andeducational value.

Although the festival has not officially opened yet, pilgrims from all over the country have gathered at the Thay Thim Palace very early to pay their respects, offer incense to commemorate the merits of the Thay Thim, and learn about the history of the Thay Thim's virtues. The historical and cultural relic complex of the Thay Thim Palace attracts more and more visitors to come and admire. In addition to the appeal of the natural scenery and mountains, visitors will not forget to visit Tam Tan beach to splash around, soak in the white-capped waves, watch the rows of green coconut trees stretching out, and enjoy the rich and affectionate colors of a rich and vibrant countryside.
