Speaking at the discussion session, National Assembly Deputy Bui Hoai Son - Standing Member of the Committee on Culture and Education said that in the 2001 World Declaration on Cultural Diversity, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) affirmed that cultural diversity is a valuable common asset of humanity, as necessary to humanity as biodiversity is to nature, and is the source of exchange, innovation and creativity.

Vietnam is a country with a rich history and traditional culture of thousands of years. Vietnamese culture has unity in diversity, is the blend and crystallization of the cultural identities of 54 ethnic groups.

The community of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam all share a national consciousness, join hands and unite, overcome all difficulties and challenges, to build and protect the Fatherland of Vietnam.

The Vietnamese State has been implementing and continuously perfecting institutions and policies according to the consistent motto of "taking Vietnamese cultural values ​​and people as the foundation and important endogenous strength, ensuring sustainable development".

Also participating in the discussion, the Indonesian MP said that this country has high cultural diversity, with many ethnic groups and hundreds of languages. Indonesia is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. Cultural and religious diversity is unified on the basis of the principle: Unity in diversity.

Despite many cultural differences, Indonesian people are always united, utilizing local knowledge to help the country achieve development.

Sustainable development goals have always been a part of Indonesian culture and development philosophy. Based on that philosophy, Indonesia has strived to achieve the goals of poverty reduction, education promotion, environmental protection, climate change response, and biodiversity maintenance. These goals are closely linked to bring peace and cooperation to countries and regions.

Indonesia has a clear orientation in developing culture, maintaining people's freedom, promoting cultural values ​​of its region and has laws promoting cultural diversity, respecting the cultures of ethnic groups, continuing to maintain, develop and further enhance this cultural diversity.

Speaking at the discussion session, the Lao MP said that Laos currently has legal regulations to preserve and protect the country's cultural diversity (specifically cultural tourism, cultural heritage, etc.) to maintain and promote Lao cultural identity and arouse patriotism among the younger generation.

Lao parliamentarians believe that today's conference will be an opportunity for young parliamentarians around the world to exchange their experiences in people-to-people and cultural exchanges, contributing to enhancing cooperative relations between countries for sustainable development .
