Architect Nguyen Truong Luu, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations, said that in 2023, despite the heavy impacts of the instability of the world economic and political situation, the whole country in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular have made efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges, maintaining stability. With the deep concern of the city's leaders at all levels, the orientation of artistic activities in the city has always been focused on.

On October 25, 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a Decision approving the Project "Developing Ho Chi Minh City's cultural industry to 2030" with 8 key industries. Cultural industries that receive investment attention are favorable conditions for developing creativity, infrastructure and modern production technology, thereby creating cultural products that bring economic benefits to the city.

In 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations celebrates 60 years of establishment and development. Continuing the glorious journey that has been nurtured by many generations of artists, the city's artists continue to strive, constantly train, and build an increasingly strong team of artists; promote the spirit of solidarity, the desire to contribute, and contribute to building a civilized, modern, and affectionate city.

"Towards the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, the Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations has widely announced the plan to organize the Campaign to compose, stage and promote literary and artistic works issued by the City People's Committee with the theme "Ho Chi Minh City - 50 years of proud heroic epic"; Plan to select typical literary and artistic works in the past 50 years; invest in the construction of typical literary and artistic works of the city" - Mr. Nguyen Truong Luu informed.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations and the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, organized for 200 city artists to visit the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line, experience the train operation to add creative inspiration, especially towards creating works to celebrate the country's reunification day in 2025.

Optimistic about the future

Musician Pham Minh Tuan said that in recent years, musicians have produced many high-quality compositions that demonstrate the role of political, social and professional organizations, contributing to the development of literary and artistic activities in the city. "The city needs to invest in cultural institutions and pay attention to two central training units located in the city, namely the Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema and the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music. These two schools have made significant contributions to the training of future artists," said musician Pham Minh Tuan.

Artists: People's Artist Ta Minh Tam, film actress Hong Anh, photographer Nguyen A, Meritorious Artist - director Phan Quoc Kiet... also expressed their opinions and creative suggestions to create many new works about Ho Chi Minh City, towards the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification.

Currently, the professional associations under the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations have been accelerating the progress and quality of creative activities according to the plan of the City's literary and artistic creation campaign to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). Organize a creative camp with the theme "The City I Love". Coordinate with associations to publish and stage a number of selected works from the creative camps in 2023 and 2024, increase promotion and communication to create a wide spread of new works to the public. Coordinate with the Department of Culture and Sports and related units to advise the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on organizing the final round; the announcement ceremony and awarding of the third 5-year Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Award (2018 - 2023).
