EVN leaders meet again to urge progress of 500 kV Line 3 Project

EVN leaders had a working session with contractors participating in the 500 kV Transmission Line Circuit 3 Quang Trach - Pho Noi Project to review the construction progress and urge contractors to speed up the progress.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) recently had a working session with contractors participating in the 500kV line 3 project from Quang Trach to Pho Noi, to review the construction progress and urge contractors to mobilize human and material resources to speed up the project. The meeting took place in both direct and online formats.

The 500kV transmission line (DZ) circuit 3 project from Quang Trach to Pho Noi includes 4 component projects: Quang Trach - Quynh Luu, Quynh Luu - Thanh Hoa, Thanh Hoa - Nam Dinh I Thermal Power Plant, Nam Dinh I Thermal Power Plant - Pho Noi; with a total route length of about 519 km, passing through 9 provinces (including 4 towns and 39 districts).

With the drastic participation of relevant parties, up to now, the entire route has handed over 1,118/1,180 (95%) column foundation locations and 179/502 (36%) anchorage spaces.

Currently, contractors have completed casting foundations at 87 locations; are implementing temporary roads and constructing foundations simultaneously at 752 locations; have completed installation of 1 steel pillar and are installing 6 pillars.

Implementing the Prime Minister's direction, in recent times, EVN has regularly directed and supervised the project implementation of the investor (National Power Transmission Corporation) and contractors.

Every week, EVN leaders hold meetings with investors to review and urge project progress. During the recent Lunar New Year, from the first to the third day of the Lunar New Year, EVN leaders inspected the production of materials and equipment for the project and the construction status of contractors at the construction site.

In addition to working with the authorities of the 9 provinces where the project passes through to resolve difficulties and problems related to the project, EVN has also promptly reported to the Ministries, branches, Government and Prime Minister on problems beyond their authority for resolution.

Construction work of component projects of the 500kV line project, circuit 3 from Quang Trach to Pho Noi as of February 20, 2024:
- 500 kV Pho Noi - Nam Dinh I Thermal Power Plant transmission line project: completed foundation casting at 7/334 locations, currently implementing construction road, excavation, and foundation casting at 234/334 locations.
- 500 kV transmission line project, Nam Dinh I Thermal Power Plant - Thanh Hoa section: completed casting foundations at 78/180 locations, construction road construction, excavation, casting foundations or pile driving at the same time at 98/180 foundation locations.
- 500 kV transmission line project, Thanh Hoa - Quynh Luu section: completed foundation casting at 1/203 locations, currently implementing construction road, digging and casting foundations at the same time at 135/203 locations.
- 500 kV transmission line project, Quynh Luu - Quang Trach section: completed foundation casting for 1/463 positions, currently implementing construction road, excavation, and foundation casting for 285/463 positions at the same time.

At the meeting with EVN leaders, contractors reported on the implementation of bid packages, pledging to make maximum efforts and focus resources to complete work items according to the schedule required by the investor.

In response to the Prime Minister's direction that the entire line must be energized in June 2024, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of EVN requested that contractors prioritize and allocate all resources to the project, increase human resources and equipment, and urgently deploy at locations where the land has been handed over.

Consulting and design units need to further promote their role and speed up the progress of work items.

For contractors supplying materials and equipment such as steel poles, conductors, insulation accessories, and optical cables, Mr. Dang Hoang An also requested to speed up production progress, ensuring quality and progress as committed.

“Contractors need to join hands, show greater unity and determination to work with the investor to complete the project according to the Prime Minister’s direction. EVN, the National Power Transmission Corporation, and leaders of EVN’s professional departments will continue to closely monitor the progress of contractors, promptly resolve any difficulties and problems that arise, and take immediate action against contractors at risk of falling behind schedule,” Mr. An suggested.
