On the evening of December 3, the 10th National Foreign Information Awards Ceremony will take place at the Opera House, Hanoi. Before the Awards Ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Que Lam, Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee for Foreign Information Work, discussed with reporters the contents of this year's Awards.
- 2024 is the 10th year of the National Foreign Information Awards. Could you please give us some general assessments of this 10th season? Comrade Nguyen Que Lam: As we all know, 2024 marks the 10-year journey of formation and development of the National Foreign Information Awards. And up to now, the Awards have affirmed their important position in the system of prestigious national awards in Vietnam as well as contributed to the successful implementation of the goals and tasks of foreign information work in each period. The Foreign Information Award is not only a regular press award but also a forum for those who love and support Vietnam to create and spread the image of Vietnam, Vietnamese values, and Vietnamese intelligence to the world. With nearly 1,300 entries in 10 categories, the 10th National Foreign Information Award continues to attract the attention and participation of domestic and foreign authors. The highlight is that the form of expression continues to show diversity, modernity, and active use of new traditional media (for products/works in the video clip category). The works/products of foreigners demonstrate a deep vision, objective and positive assessment of Vietnam in many aspects.

In particular, this year's award has entries presented in a variety of languages. In addition to familiar languages such as English, French, Spanish, this time there are many new languages such as Arabic, Uzbek, Sinhala (a common language in Sri Lanka)... Receiving entries via email has also created convenience for Vietnamese representative agencies abroad and foreigners to submit entries/products to the Award. Among the entries in the categories of foreign printed and electronic newspapers, Vietnam News Agency continues to be the agency with the most entries. This affirms the leading position of Vietnam News Agency as a key foreign press agency. In languages such as English and French, Vietnam News Agency has an outstanding number of articles, especially of high quality. The two high prizes in the categories of foreign print and electronic newspapers this year, which went to Vietnam News Agency, are a recognition of the dedicated and creative efforts of Vietnam News Agency reporters in carrying out foreign information work last year.
- As you have assessed, the highlight of this year's award-winning works is that there are many works with diverse and modern forms of expression as well as many works by foreigners that reflect a positive view of Vietnam. Could you please share more specifically about such works? Comrade Nguyen Que Lam: For me, music is always something that touches emotions, especially top international music that we used to only follow on the news, until IB Group launched a series of music projects bringing international music idols to Vietnam to perform such as Modern Talking, Boney M, Chris Norman... and recently Bond and Kenny G. Especially the event when IB Group and Nhan Dan Newspaper launched a music video filmed in Hanoi for the immortal song "Going home". This video has received a lot of attention from audiences at home and abroad, contributing to spreading the cultural, historical, country and people of Vietnam to the world, supporting the development of tourism in Hanoi and Vietnam. The most prominent images of the capital Hanoi have been selected for each camera angle in this special video. The second prize-winning work that I want to share is the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association Headquarters Monument, the birthplace of the first newspaper of the The foundation of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press is at 248-250 Van Minh Street, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, China.

At this place 100 years ago, from November 1924 to May 1927, with the help of the Communist Party of China, President Ho Chi Minh opened a political training class for Vietnamese youth and founded the "Thanh Nien" newspaper to propagate Marxism-Leninism. In recent years, the Guangdong Museum of Revolutionary History has renovated, repaired, and upgraded the relic, and now, anyone who comes here feels like they are entering a "miniature Ho Chi Minh Museum" in Guangzhou. In 2024, the relic site is also honored to welcome high-ranking leaders of our Party and State to visit. With a creative approach and showing the respect of Chinese friends for the Vietnamese revolutionary leader, the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association Headquarters Relic Site was highly appreciated by the Final Council of the 10th National Award for Foreign Information as an initiative and product with foreign information value.
- After After 10 times of organizing the award, what experiences can be drawn to continue to improve the quality and influence of the award? Comrade Nguyen Que Lam: Although having achieved very positive results, along with the new requirements and tasks of foreign information work in the new period, the National Award on Foreign Information needs to continue to innovate to improve its quality, contribute more effectively to foreign information work as well as implement the strategic goals set by the Communist Party of Vietnam. After 10 years of organization, the Award has truly created a movement, a strong driving force to encourage those working in foreign information to constantly innovate and bring quality works. Now, the requirement is to further improve the quality, spread widely abroad, have a stronger impact so that international friends understand Vietnam better, love Vietnam more and accompany Vietnam on the path to socialism, supporting the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam. In addition to the types of journalism, there should also be many other forms of modern media expression, more creative, more concise, more diverse, and must truly tell attractive, emotional stories about Vietnam. In short, the Foreign Information Award as well as foreign information work in the coming time need to make every effort and focus to better promote the country's foundation and position, especially when we are entering a new era, an era of prosperity and happiness, an era of the Vietnamese people's rise.
- Sincerely thank you, comrade!./. Vietnamplus.vn
