On the evening of May 24, in Hanoi, the Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association in coordination with the Bulgarian Embassy in Vietnam solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the Day of Bulgarian Culture, Education and Slavic Writing.
The ceremony was attended by leaders and members of the Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association, representatives of the Bulgarian Embassy in Vietnam, and former Vietnamese students who lived, studied and worked in Bulgaria.

Not only to express gratitude for the positive contributions in maintaining, consolidating and promoting the traditional friendship between the two countries, the event also aims to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Bulgaria diplomatic relations in 2025.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association Huynh Quyet Thang said that the Bulgarian Culture, Education and Slavonic Writing Day on May 24 is one of the important holidays honoring traditional and modern cultural values, honoring teachers, cultural figures, and generations who have contributed to the formation and development of Bulgarian education and culture.
This is also the day to commemorate the two holy brothers Kiril and Methodius, along with their students and other cultural celebrities, who founded the "Cirilitsa" alphabet and created the Slavic writing system as it is known today.
The President of the Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association recalled historical milestones such as: more than 70 years ago, the two countries laid the first bricks of cooperation and on February 8, 1950, Bulgaria became one of the first countries in the world to recognize and establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam; President Ho Chi Minh paid an official friendship visit to Bulgaria in August 1957, continuing to mark an important milestone in the history of relations between the two countries.

He emphasized: “During the years of the Vietnamese people's struggle for national liberation, Bulgaria has always been a close friend, standing shoulder to shoulder and giving Vietnam valuable assistance.
Many Vietnamese people have lived, studied and worked in Bulgaria, then brought back the knowledge and experience they learned to Vietnam to work, contributing to the country's development, becoming excellent leaders and experts. Many of them have also started their own businesses, succeeded, and become successful businessmen.
Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association, which brings together Vietnamese people who have lived, studied and worked in Bulgaria, have deep affection for this country, are happy with the history of development and friendship between the two peoples, as well as the current development of the two countries.
With that sentiment, Mr. Huynh Quyet Thang said that the Association will continue to gather members, hoping to have useful activities like today's Anniversary to share beautiful memories, working and studying days in the beautiful country of Bulgaria.
At the same time, the Association also builds specific working plans to develop and build relationships between Vietnamese and Bulgarian educational institutions, and develop trade and investment cooperation between Vietnamese and Bulgarian enterprises.
In addition, the Association is committed to doing its best to develop people-to-people diplomacy between the two countries, and hopes to have the companionship, co-implementation, and close and comprehensive cooperation with the Embassy, the Bulgarian community in Vietnam and the Vietnamese people in Bulgaria.

Bulgarian Ambassador to Vietnam Pavlin Todorov also affirmed that jointly celebrating the Day of Bulgarian Culture, Education and Slavic Writing has affirmed that educational and cultural exchanges between the people of the two countries are the basis for building and developing friendship between the two countries.
Ambassador Pavlin Todorov said that the Embassy always welcomes initiatives to translate and publish modern Bulgarian literature in Vietnam. In particular, in recent years, Vietnam's cultural calendar has included events such as the Bulgarian Rose Festival, Bulgarian film screenings as well as exhibitions, concerts and fairs, which have aroused the long-standing interest of the Vietnamese people in Bulgaria and its culture, providing opportunities for cooperation and exchange in the fields of culture and tourism.
"On the eve of the upcoming 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, we will jointly plan new cooperation initiatives in the fields of education and culture. With this celebration, let us look to the future and make even greater efforts to preserve and spread the Bulgarian writing, education and culture in Vietnam," Ambassador Pavlin Todorov called.

At the ceremony, people who have studied, lived and worked in Bulgaria shared and recalled memories about the country, its people, and the traditional relationship between Vietnam and Bulgaria.
Within the framework of the program, delegates enjoyed special traditional Vietnamese performances.
In addition, two booths displaying publications such as Vietnamese Dictionary - Bun , Poetry Collection Vay Giua Tinh Yeu, Bulgarian Memories, Ho Chi Minh in the Land of Roses were also introduced to the delegates, demonstrating the deep friendship between the two countries.
