In 2025 - the final year of the 2020-2025 term, Thai Nguyen set a target of increasing the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production by 3.5% or more. Although there are still many "obstacles", the province has proposed many feasible solutions to "reach the finish line" on time.

Many big challenges
2025 is the year of acceleration and breakthrough to complete the 5-year plan 2021-2025. However, like the whole country, Thai Nguyen has to face the world and domestic economic situation that is developing rapidly, complicatedly and unpredictably. In particular, the world economy continues to face many difficulties and challenges, especially the increasingly fierce strategic competition between major countries; the Russia-Ukraine military conflict, in the Gaza Strip, the Red Sea region...
In addition, economic growth and consumer demand in many major economies are recovering slowly; inflation in some countries around the world, prices of production materials and input materials remain high...
Ms. Tong Thi Xuyen, Head of the Trung Thanh 2 Tea Village Management Board, Director of Hoan Xuyen Safe Tea Cooperative, Phu Do Commune (Phu Luong), said: The complicated economic developments and war conflicts in some countries in the world have had a significant impact on the development of agriculture and forestry in the province; significantly affecting the tea export activities of Thai Nguyen...
Not only that, some dangerous infectious diseases in livestock and poultry still pose a high risk of outbreak, such as avian influenza and African swine fever. Meanwhile, the household economy still accounts for a high proportion, safe and organic production is still difficult and limited; the province's agricultural processing industry and supporting industry are slow to develop.
It is worth mentioning that with deep economic integration, market competition is becoming increasingly fierce, especially in the market for agricultural products. The increasingly strict standards and regulations on production and quality of agricultural and forestry products of importing countries also cause difficulties for the export of agricultural and forestry products of Thai Nguyen.
In addition, climate change and natural disasters are becoming more complex, affecting the sustainability of agricultural development in the province. The most obvious evidence is the terrible devastation caused by storm No. 3 last September, which affected crops, destroyed many livestock farms and caused environmental pollution in the province.
It is worrying that 2025 is also predicted to be the year when Thai Nguyen and the northern provinces of our country continue to suffer from many large and small storms, with the risk of agricultural and forestry production being affected by natural disasters...
In addition, up to now, expanding the area of tea trees and some key fruit trees, expanding the area of safe and organic production in some localities in the province still faces many difficulties...

Overcoming "obstacles"
It can be seen that Thai Nguyen will have to overcome many "obstacles" to complete the agricultural and forestry growth target in 2025. However, with high determination, from the beginning of the year, all levels and functional branches of the province have joined in very urgently.
The province's optimal solution to complete the set goal is to continue restructuring agriculture, developing agricultural production in a concentrated, large-scale direction, applying high technology, safe and organic production, suitable for market demand, and adapting to climate change.
At the same time, focus on developing key agricultural products and OCOP products of the province associated with technology application, digital transformation; linking agriculture with industry and services; production with preservation, processing, branding, consumption, and enhancing the value of agricultural products in value chains.
Encourage household economy, cooperative economy with cooperatives as the core, attract business investment, improve state management to increase productivity, quality and efficiency of agricultural production; strengthen advertising, trade promotion, supply-demand connection, support product consumption...
Mr. Nguyen Ta, Head of the Provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, said: To complete the set goals, the key solution is to continue to transform the crop structure, develop and implement flexible production plans, adapt to weather and climate change, in line with advantages and market demand to achieve the growth target of the crop sector. Strengthen the application of science and technology, develop high-tech, safe and organic agriculture. Promote the management of growing areas towards export and expanding agricultural markets; improve monitoring and forecasting capacity, effectively prevent and control plant pests, proactively prevent new types of pests and diseases...
In the livestock sector, the province encourages investment in herd restoration and herd expansion (especially for pigs and chickens), and increasing the size of cattle herds in localities with suitable conditions. Promote the development of concentrated, industrial-scale livestock farms in areas far from residential areas in the direction of bio-security, disease control, and environmental protection.
Reduce small-scale, household-scale livestock farming; develop livestock farming associated with management, build a system of slaughterhouses, and trade in animals and animal products; continue to form and maintain production, slaughter, and product consumption chain models.
In the forestry sector, promote propaganda and mobilization for planting large timber forests, providing wood materials with sustainable forest management certification (FSC), creating stable raw material areas, meeting the needs of the wood processing and export industry; conserve nature, biodiversity and use existing forest areas sustainably and effectively; improve forest productivity and quality; focus on developing cinnamon trees according to the Project on developing key agricultural products of the province...
