Lam Binh district has 12 ethnic groups living together, of which the Tay people account for more than 60% of the population, and is a land with a strong cultural identity. During the history of living and developing, the Tay people have created a system of indigenous knowledge in wet rice cultivation. The techniques of selecting seeds, planting, and managing water resources have been accumulated and passed down through many generations, not only contributing to ensuring food sources but also creating a unique cultural identity.

Knowledge of wet rice cultivation does not stop at production techniques but is also closely linked to the spiritual life of the people. Traditional festivals such as Long Tong (going to the fields festival), the new rice celebration ceremony or folk customs integrated into the crop season have contributed to creating a meaningful cultural space.

The recognition of the Tay people’s knowledge and wet rice cultivation practices as national intangible cultural heritage not only affirms the traditional cultural value but also opens up opportunities for sustainable development for Lam Binh district. In the context of modernization, the combination of cultural preservation and economic development is a suitable direction, contributing to creating a driving force for comprehensive development for the locality.

Comrade Nguyen The Giang, member of the Provincial Party Committee, presented the Heritage Certificate to the leaders of Lam Binh district and the leaders of Lang Can town People's Committee.

At the ceremony, Lam Binh district leaders pledged to coordinate with all levels, sectors and local people to preserve and promote the value of this heritage. In particular, the district aims to apply knowledge of wet rice cultivation to exploit cultural tourism, turning this into a highlight to attract tourists, thereby contributing to improving the lives of local people.
