72 years of shining journey of Vietnamese Photography

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association Doan Hoai Trung recalled the history of Vietnamese photography. Exactly 72 years ago, on March 15, 1953, President Ho Chi Minh signed Decree No. 147/SL, establishing the “Vietnam National Photography and Cinema Enterprise,” laying the foundation for the development of photography and cinematography in the country.

Since then, Vietnamese photography has realistically portrayed important historical stages of the nation, from the arduous years of resistance to the journey of building and developing the country.

On December 16, 2002, the Ministry of Home Affairs officially recognized March 15 as Vietnam Photography Traditional Day, to honor the role of photography in preserving, conserving and spreading national cultural and historical values.

Over the past 72 years, Vietnamese photography has created a visual history, reflecting the real life and people of Vietnam, from the wars to defend the Fatherland to the process of industrialization and modernization of the country. The photos not only help preserve precious moments but also highlight the stature of Vietnam, affirming the national spirit in the international arena.

Imprints of 50 years of Ho Chi Minh City through the photo book "Ho Chi Minh City - 50 years of proud heroic epic"

The year 2025 marks many important events for the country: 50 years of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), 80 years of National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), 135 years of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025).

On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association introduces the photo book "Ho Chi Minh City - 50 years of proud heroic epic", a collection of photos bearing historical and artistic imprints, reflecting the continuous development of the City through each period. The book is divided into two main parts:
