Celebrating the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day and Inauguration of the training facility building in Ngoc Truc

On the afternoon of November 19, the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology held a ceremony to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2024) and inaugurate the training facility building at Ngoc Truc, Dai Mo, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi.

Attending the ceremony were comrade Bui Hoang Phuong, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications; former leaders of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, Ministry of Information and Communications, VNPT Group and leaders, former leaders of the Academy, generations of lecturers of the Academy.

On behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong presented a bouquet of flowers to congratulate the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology.

Shifting university education from equipping knowledge to teaching skills, teaching how to learn, how to think

In his speech commemorating Vietnamese Teachers' Day on November 20, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Hoai Bac, Director of the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, quoted President Ho Chi Minh, affirming: "The task of education is very important and glorious, because without teachers, there is no education. Without education, without cadres, there is no economy or culture." Teachers are the ones who guide and lead the younger generation to gradually acquire knowledge, so in any era, the role of teachers is especially important in the career of educating people.

Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Hoai Bac, Director of the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, delivered a speech welcoming Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20.

In the speech of General Secretary To Lam to teachers and education managers on November 18, 2024, he clearly stated the goal of strongly shifting university education from focusing on equipping knowledge as the main goal to teaching skills, teaching how to learn, and how to think as the main goal. Strive to increase the ranking of Vietnamese education on the regional and international education map, specifically by 2030, Vietnam will be in the top 3 countries in ASEAN in terms of the number of international publications and the impact index of scientific research works; have universities in the Top 100 leading universities in the world. Closely combine teaching and scientific research in undergraduate and postgraduate education, in which teachers are also scientists in the fields they teach.

In a letter to teachers in the Information and Communications sector on November 20, 2024, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung also hopes that teachers in the Information and Communications sector will make a revolution, build a new philosophy in training, impart knowledge to students, explore things that are not yet in books, in lectures, not only learn theory but also learn from practice, not only listen but also ask, debate, together build a creative and flexible learning space, maximize technology applications so that technology becomes a powerful tool for teachers and students in the journey to find new knowledge to build and develop the country, write new bright pages for Vietnam in the new era.

Mission to lead digital transformation of Vietnamese education

On behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong sent his best wishes to generations of teachers, scientists, officials, civil servants and all students of the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology.

The Deputy Minister also sent his congratulations to 03 lecturers of the Academy who have just been qualified by the State Council of Professors for the title of Professor and Associate Professor. This is not only the joy and happiness of the teachers but also the pride of the whole Academy.

The Deputy Minister said that the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology is carrying a new mission of becoming a model of digital transformation of Vietnamese universities. Taking digital transformation as the foundation to fundamentally innovate teaching methods in a modern and effective direction, integrating "personalization" of traditional training systems as well as creating breakthroughs in the coming time. "To carry out that mission, the Academy must specify the steps, timelines, and specific tasks to complete this task well," the Deputy Minister pointed out.

Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong and delegates performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the training facility building in Ngoc Truc.

According to the Deputy Minister, along with improving the quality of on-site staff and having a policy to attract talent, the Academy must conduct assessment and develop lecturer capacity. This is not only important in improving the training quality of the Academy but also the foundation for shaping mechanisms and policies and ensuring that each lecturer at the Academy can develop their best capacity.

Our Vietnam aspires to become a strong country by 2045, becoming a developed country with high income when Vietnam is only 100 years old. We will move towards that with technology, with innovation and with a dream of a prosperous and strong Vietnam. The Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, the only university training unit under the Ministry of Information and Communications, will carry out the mission of leading the digital transformation of Vietnam's education.

The Deputy Minister hopes that the teachers of the Academy will continue their glorious career of educating people with enthusiasm, love for the profession, and dedication, continuing to train and provide generations of global citizens, bearing the mark of the Academy.

At the ceremony, collectives and individuals of the Academy were also honored with the title of Emulation Fighter of the Ministry of Information and Communications for the period 2021 - 2023; Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Information and Communications; Commemorative Medal for the Cause of Information and Communications; Commemorative Medal for the Cause of Education and Training.

With the inauguration of the training facility building in Ngoc Truc, the Academy has more spacious facilities, with 02 buildings of 13-storey lecture halls and 08-storey dormitories serving the training and living needs of thousands of students, helping the Academy have more space for new development, conquering the great goals of the Academy in the future./.
