After losing to Portugal at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton (New Zealand) on July 27, the Vietnamese women's team was definitely eliminated from the 2023 Women's World Cup. After two matches, coach Mai Duc Chung's team has no points, 4 points behind the US and the Netherlands.

In the last two matches, the Vietnamese women's team's attack has not scored any goals, but we have a bright spot in defense. In particular, goalkeeper Kim Thanh has played quite outstandingly.

In both matches against the US and Portugal, the goalkeeper born in 1993 was the highest-rated player on the Vietnamese women's team (top 3 players on the field). In both matches, Kim Thanh was rated 8 points or more.

Although the home team conceded 5 goals, Kim Thanh still received many compliments. In total, we had to face 57 shots (28 in the match against the US, 29 in the match against Portugal).

Of these, Kim Thanh made 12 saves (5 in the match against the US, 7 in the match in Portugal). The most impressive was the situation where she blocked Alex Morgan's penalty kick in the match against the US.

As a result, Kim Thanh became the goalkeeper with the second highest number of saves in the tournament, only behind Costa Rica's goalkeeper Daniela Solera (20 saves). Both Kim Thanh and Daniela Solera have conceded 5 goals after two matches.

The next positions in the save index belong to Kerly Theus (Haiti, 10 times), Olivia McDaniel (Philippines, 10 times) and Chiamaka Nnadozie (Nigeria, 9 times).

Up to this point, Zambia has the worst defense, conceding 10 goals in two matches. Next are Morocco (6 goals), Vietnam and Costa Rica (5 goals).

In the final match, the Vietnamese women's team will face the Netherlands at 2:30 p.m. on August 1. Coach Mai Duc Chung's team still hopes to score a historic goal in the World Cup.
