Although it is only the third largest overseas Vietnamese community after the United States and Japan, the Vietnamese community in France has the largest number of intellectuals and businessmen in the world. Many of them have participated in the French political system. There are many professors, scientists, researchers, artists and successful businessmen who have contributed to the economic, social, scientific and technological development of France, as well as to the prosperity of their homeland. In addition, the greatest contribution of the Vietnamese community in France is the increasingly deepening of the good feelings between the people of the two countries. Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and the delegation of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese listened to the contributions and proposed initiatives of representatives of associations to build the Vietnamese community in France increasingly strong, united and integrated, promoting the great national unity bloc. Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang shared: The contributions and dedication of the Vietnamese community in France have contributed to the strong development of Vietnam's position, foundation and potential in the international arena, making the country stronger. The more open foundation of Vietnam today is thanks to the efforts of each Vietnamese person, whether living, studying and working in the country or abroad.

After more than 100 years of formation and development, the Vietnamese community in France has grown stronger and stronger with a large number of members active in all areas of life in the host country, from politics, economics, health, science and technology to culture, society and art. Although living in many localities in France, the Vietnamese community still creates a "big circle" to together build the strength of national unity, contributing to the strong development of the country in recent times. In an effort to preserve the Vietnamese language for the third and fourth generation children of overseas Vietnamese families, the Vietnamese Association in France has actively organized many Vietnamese language classes, as well as cultural, artistic and sports activities combined with teaching and playing programs with Vietnamese. Such practical activities have created interest and passion for learning about their roots for Vietnamese children. Many Vietnamese families have let their children choose Vietnamese as a second language in their secondary and high school curriculum, so that they have more opportunities to be exposed to Vietnamese culture.

Mr. Can Van Kiet shares his experience in teaching Vietnamese to overseas Vietnamese children over the years . (Photo: KHAI HOAN)
Mr. Can Van Kiet, former Vice President of the Association of Vietnamese in France, shared the aspirations of the Vietnamese people in the host country in the issue of preserving and promoting the traditional cultural identity of the nation. Accordingly, maintaining and developing the Vietnamese language needs to become a core policy, to elevate the teaching of Vietnamese to become a bilateral program between the two countries. Mr. Nguyen Phan Bao Thuy, President of the Association of Vietnamese Youth and Students in France, said: Vietnamese language teaching needs to be integrated with many other useful and meaningful activities such as martial arts, painting, archaeological exploration, museum archives and language research, to enhance the application of Vietnamese language after studying. Increasing the publication of books and comic books in French-Vietnamese bilingual format is also an idea proposed by the Association of Vietnamese Youth and Students in France, in the context of the third and fourth generation of overseas Vietnamese children having a great desire to learn and explore the language and culture of the nation. Since the Vietnamese Language Honor Day was implemented in 2023, the idea of establishing a community of countries that use Vietnamese, similar to the model of other common language community groups such as the International Organization of La Francophonie, will create an exchange network, as well as increase the influence of Vietnamese language and culture in the international arena.

Pham Thu Giang, a 13-year-old member who actively participates in the activities of the Kite Club, said that the working trip of Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and the delegation of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese is a great source of encouragement for Vietnamese children. "I am very happy to share with my French friends my pride in being a child of Vietnam. Born and raised abroad, I always try to learn Vietnamese. Because I understand that language is the most important bridge to preserve and promote the cultural identity of the nation," Pham Thu Giang excitedly shared. However, teaching and learning Vietnamese for children in France still faces many difficulties. Mr. Rabind Angot, in charge of managing the "Ve Nguon" school, shared the wishes of the Vietnamese community in France in increasing the provision of documents, books and newspapers to serve the teaching of Vietnamese language for overseas Vietnamese children. After listening to many comments and suggestions, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized: The entire domestic political system has paid deep attention to caring for the lives and interests of the Vietnamese community abroad. In recent times, many meaningful programs have been organized for overseas Vietnamese, as well as for overseas Vietnamese children of different age groups. Through that, they have the opportunity to return to Vietnam, learn about the country, people, history, and culture right on their homeland, to better understand and love the two words "Fatherland". On August 22, under the direct direction of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, in coordination with ministries, departments, and branches, will organize the 4th Conference of Overseas Vietnamese around the world and the 1st Forum of Overseas Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts in Hanoi. This is an important occasion for overseas Vietnamese to contribute ideas for the country's construction and development in the new situation, strengthening the connection between overseas Vietnamese businessmen, experts and intellectuals with those in the country. On this occasion, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and the Vietnam Education Publishing House inaugurated the "Vietnamese Bookshelf" located at the Vietnamese Cultural Center in France, including many different books such as Vietnamese teaching and learning materials, comics for children, reference materials, advanced supplementary materials, etc. During the working trip to France, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Le Thi Thu Hang had a meeting and worked with representatives of overseas Vietnamese, Vietnamese youth and students living, studying and working in Bordeaux city on July 21.
