Participating in the program When We Are 20 , Miss Ky Duyen shared quite frankly about the time she had to face a lot of noise after being crowned Miss Vietnam.
At the time she became Miss, Ky Duyen was only 18 years old. The beauty from Thanh Nam admitted that she was overwhelmed when she entered her new position:
"I never thought I would become a beauty queen. My family is in business, I graduated from Foreign Trade University with a major in Economics, but then I became a beauty queen.
Miss is a very big title for an 18-year-old girl. My family and I have never had any experience with this role. At that time, I was like a blank page, it was very difficult to get the "strokes" I wanted.
From 2014 to 2016, I experienced many changes. I set a goal to change so that the audience who did not have a good impression of me would look at me again. So far, I have done that."

The beauty from Thanh Nam frankly admitted about the period when she was considered "the most controversial beauty queen": "There is a saying that I really like, which is "first blame yourself, then blame others". I always feel that the results and consequences are due to me, not because I am unlucky or people hate me.
At the time I was not yet 20 years old, the public saw that I was entering a glamorous world, but I myself understood how much pressure and difficulty there was. In the first 2 years, I encountered many challenges and learned many lessons.
Stepping out of that noise, I understood that all the negativity that came to me was not because the audience hated me, but because I created the opportunity for them to dislike me. As soon as I realized that, I set a goal to change to gradually regain the audience's sympathy."
However, Ky Duyen admitted that she had been hurt a lot: "There are things that normal people would not attack so much.
It's as simple as my sleeping position on the plane, it was a very private moment and I was in a state of no control. But someone took that picture. When it happened, I understood that I had to be careful."
"After the incident happened, I realized that I must always be careful."
Admitting that she was lucky to always have the companionship and support of her family during the early days of her coronation as Miss. However, Ky Duyen said that during the period when she was "immersed" in the noise, she was quite lonely because she could not share with anyone:
"My parents were always there for me and worried about me, but they couldn't understand my thoughts and feelings. At that time, my family was the place for me to rely on, but I was the only one who had to deal with what happened at that time. It was quite lonely, but that was what motivated me to be strong enough to overcome everything ."
During the most difficult period, Ky Duyen never thought of giving up. She always reminded herself to strive for her own responsibility and mission:
"I was lucky to be successful, but when I am accompanied by the title of Miss, I have to have responsibility and mission for it. Responsibility and mission are what hold me back so that I can fulfill the role that the contest's Organizing Committee has given me" - Ky Duyen said.
