Mr. Dang Ha Viet said that up to this point, the Vietnamese sports delegation has competed quite successfully, temporarily ranking first in the overall rankings with 71 gold medals. There are some excellent competitions and exceeding the target (karate, vovinam, gymnastics, kun Khmer, kun bokator,...) and some competitions have finished but are still 1 gold medal short of the target (athletics, swimming).

After Nguyen Thi Oanh's resounding achievements, she received much public attention and was also promised many valuable rewards from businesses and units. However, not all athletes are rewarded that much. The question of how to ensure income and life for athletes so that they can feel secure in training and contributing to the country's sports was also asked by many reporters at the press conference to Mr. Dang Ha Viet.

"The issue of athletes' income is extremely important. Athletes who achieve success in the SEA Games, ASIAD, and the Olympics are people with extremely special qualities. They themselves must have very good intelligence and physical strength. Such people have many career options. They can choose sports or other professions to ensure their future life. If our sports do not ensure the lives and income of athletes, it will become increasingly difficult for us to recruit athletes. That is an extremely difficult problem," said Mr. Dang Ha Viet.

Athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh was given a 700 million VND apartment.

"The issue of increasing income and resources for athletes is necessary. To solve that problem, what should we do? This is complicated. First, we must build the brand value of athletes, increasingly raising it higher. That way, brands will pay more attention and sponsor or accept athletes as representatives. We must coordinate resources between the State, federations, associations and localities to develop resources for high-performance sports and grassroots sports," said Mr. Viet.

The 32nd SEA Games will officially end in 5 days. The Vietnamese sports delegation is likely to achieve the target of more than 100 gold medals and be in the top 3 overall. After the SEA Games, the athletes will continue to train towards further goals such as the ASIAD and the Olympics.
