The main bridge section of Dai Ngai 1 Bridge has a main span of 450m (the second longest in Vietnam, after the main span of Can Tho Bridge which is 550m long). When completed, it will shorten the distance by about 80km compared to National Highway 1 when going from Ca Mau, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa.

On December 9, on the north bank of Hau River in An Quang Huu Commune, Tra Cu District, Tra Vinh Province, Project Management Board 85 (Ministry of Transport) held a ceremony to launch the construction of Dai Ngai 1 Bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge. The project was carried out by a consortium of contractors led by Deo Ca Group.

Dai Ngai 1 Bridge is expected to take 1,250 days to build and will be completed in June 2028, shortening the distance from Ho Chi Minh City to the West by 80km.
At the construction launch ceremony, Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh believed the project would be completed soon because the contractor is experienced in constructing large bridges, including sea-crossing bridges.
Mr. Minh said that the Dai Ngai bridge on National Highway 60, when completed soon, will connect Tra Vinh and Soc Trang with Ho Chi Minh City, significantly shortening travel time and distance, helping people travel and trade more conveniently.
According to calculations, Dai Ngai bridge helps shorten about 80km compared to National Highway 1 when going from Ca Mau, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa.
