AVP reported that on the night of August 30, air raid sirens sounded across Ukraine and Kiev authorities announced that this was the strongest attack on the capital since spring this year.
In the videos taken by foreign journalists, it is clear that the airstrike targeted the city’s important infrastructure. The strikes were precise and a powerful explosion occurred. However, it is not clear which “object” was hit.
It should be noted that at night airstrikes were carried out not only in Kiev but also in other regions of Ukraine including the Odessa region.
The sky over Kiev lit up after the airstrike.
In another development, on August 30, TASS reported that the Russian Defense Ministry told reporters that Kiev had attempted to attack facilities on Russian territory but was intercepted by Russian air defense systems. A Ukrainian drone was shot down in the Bryansk region.
“On the evening of August 30, an attempt by the Kiev authorities to carry out a terrorist attack on facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation was foiled… Two Ukrainian drones were destroyed by air defense systems over the territory of the Bryansk region,” the Russian Defense Ministry informed.
The ministry also noted that a missile was shot down over Crimea.
“A Ukrainian missile was destroyed by air defense systems on the territory of Crimea,” the statement said.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that a Black Sea Fleet aircraft had destroyed four Ukrainian speedboats carrying a landing party of up to 50 people.
In the Zaporozhye region, the Ukrainian army also suffered heavy losses. The acting governor of the Zaporozhye region, Yevgeny Balitsky, said that the Ukrainian army lost about 200 soldiers in battles in the region overnight.
“The situation in the Rabotino area remains tense. Overnight alone, about 200 Ukrainian soldiers were killed in the Zaporozhye direction,” Balitsky wrote on his Telegram channel.
The head of the region said in a television program broadcast live on Rossiya-24 channel on Wednesday that the Ukrainian army had not been able to penetrate the first line of Russian defense in the Zaporozhye region and capture the Rabotino settlement as some Western media claimed.
As the Russian Defense Ministry reported, the Ukrainian military has been making unsuccessful attempts to attack since June 4. According to the latest data from the ministry, the Ukrainian military has lost more than 43,000 troops and about 5,000 pieces of various weapons, including 26 combat aircraft and 25 Leopard tanks, in two months.
