Commendation of many collectives and individuals for their contributions to ethnic work

6 collectives and individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee; 5 individuals were awarded the Medal for the Cause of Ethnic Development; 30 collectives and individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Bien province for their contributions to ethnic work and ethnic minority areas in Dien Bien province.

On November 8, the People's Committee of Dien Bien province organized the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities of Dien Bien province, with the theme "Promoting the heroic tradition of Dien Bien Phu; the people of all ethnic groups of Dien Bien province unite, preserve the cultural identity of all ethnic groups, develop socio-economy, ensure national defense and security".

The congress took place with the participation of 250 official delegates representing more than 530 thousand ethnic minorities in the whole province.

Also attending were Deputy Minister, Vice Chairwoman of the Ethnic Committee Nong Thi Ha; Standing member of the Provincial Party Committee, leaders of the Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee and representatives of departments, branches and sectors of Dien Bien province.

Speaking at the congress, Deputy Minister, Vice Chairwoman of the Ethnic Minorities Committee Nong Thi Ha praised the results that the ethnic people of Dien Bien province have achieved in implementing the Resolution Letter of the 3rd Congress of Ethnic Minorities; at the same time, affirmed that this is a very valuable and proud achievement; demonstrating the political determination and strong direction and leadership of Party committees and authorities at all levels who have always paid attention to ethnic work and ethnic minority areas.

The achievements of ethnic minorities in Dien Bien province in the period of 2019-2024 significantly contribute to the overall achievements of ethnic minorities across the country, joining hands and hearts to build a strong Vietnam.

Ms. Nong Thi Ha suggested that the Party committees, Party organizations and authorities at all levels of Dien Bien province continue to pay attention to ethnic minority areas. Each individual, each community and each ethnic minority in Dien Bien need to contribute to building and fostering the spirit of great solidarity among ethnic groups to last forever.

Ms. Ha believes that each delegate will continue to be an inspiring example, connecting ethnic minorities with the entire Party, army and people to join hands to realize the congress's determination, contributing to building and protecting the increasingly developed homeland of Dien Bien and building a strong, beautiful and rich country.

Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee Lo Van Tien said that with the spirit of "Heroic Dien Bien Phu", ethnic minorities in the province have overcome difficulties, become self-reliant, highly determined and well implemented the Resolution Letter of the 3rd Congress of Ethnic Minorities of Dien Bien Province and achieved many proud results.

The average growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the province is about 9.3%/year (ranking Dien Bien 3rd/14 provinces in the Northern midland and mountainous region, and 5th/63 provinces and cities in the country). The whole province has 54 communes meeting and basically meeting new rural standards, with an average of 14.12 criteria/commune; 650 villages and hamlets are recognized as meeting new rural standards and model new rural areas; the forest coverage rate is estimated at 44.01% (an increase of 4.26% compared to 2018); 2 intangible cultural heritages were listed by UNESCO as representative intangible cultural heritages of humanity, etc.

The national target program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas of the province has achieved quite comprehensive results, notably the increasingly developed infrastructure; the lives of ethnic minorities are constantly improving, the poverty rate has decreased by more than 5%/year, exceeding the program's target (by the end of 2023, it will be 25.68%)...

Recognizing the contributions of collectives and individuals to ethnic work and ethnic minority areas in Dien Bien province in the past period, at the congress, 6 collectives and individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee; 5 individuals were awarded the Medal for the cause of ethnic development; 30 collectives and individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Bien province.
