At the ACDFM-20 Conference, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong reaffirmed that Vietnam adheres to the principle of resolving disputes and disagreements in the East Sea by peaceful means, on the basis of respecting the independence, sovereignty and legitimate interests of countries, and complying with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). Delegates attending the conference highly appreciated Vietnam's proactive and positive spirit along with the initiative to establish the ASEAN Defense Intelligence Community. The first ASEAN Defense Intelligence Community Leaders' Meeting (AMICLC-1) will be held in Vietnam. This is an initiative put forward by Vietnam in 2020, in its role as ASEAN Chair.
