At exactly 9:15 p.m. on November 29, the inaugural flight on the Da Nang - Don Mueang route operated by A321 aircraft, flight number VN629, took off from Da Nang at 8 p.m. and landed at Don Mueang International Airport, welcomed by staff of the VNA branch in Thailand and representatives of Don Mueang Airport. In the opposite direction, the Don Mueang - Da Nang flight, flight number VN628, departed from Don Mueang at 5:05 a.m. and landed in Da Nang at 6:45 a.m. on November 30. This is also the aircraft type and daily flight schedule of the new route; VNA aircraft will regularly spend the first night in Bangkok, Thailand from November 29, 2023.
It is known that the new flight route is designed to operate daily with convenient departure times in each locality to maximize the time spent in Vietnam by Thai tourists and vice versa. At the same time, it also meets the requirements of passengers transferring via Da Nang to domestic destinations such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City...
According to the leader of Vietnam Airlines, by implementing this route, the unit has increased the daily flight frequency to 7 flights from the capital Bangkok to Vietnam, in which the destination Da Nang is the 3rd city after the capital Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City that VNA is operating flights from Thailand.
In particular, in 2023, this innovative new route is seen as a vivid expression that adds meaning to the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between the two countries and is in line with the wishes of the two countries' senior leaders as stated in the meeting on the sidelines of the 78th United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA. On this occasion, Ambassador Phan Chi Thanh also expressed his hope that relevant Thai agencies will create more favorable conditions for VNA to effectively carry out the connection between the two countries.
Vice President of the Thai Senate Supachai Somcharoen expressed his joy and honor to attend the inauguration ceremony of VNA's new route. Mr. Supachai emphasized that this is a great event, of great significance and an important milestone in the history of aviation cooperation between the two countries. He also expressed his hope that the opening of this route will continue to deepen the good and warm relationship between Thailand and Vietnam.
