Speaking at the opening of the Congress, comrade Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, President of the Vietnam Civil Servants' Trade Union, said that the 6th Congress of the Vietnam Civil Servants' Trade Union is an important political forum for union members and workers in the whole bloc, taking place at a time when the entire Party, people and army are striving, seizing opportunities and advantages, overcoming all difficulties and challenges, determined to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo on innovation of organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation.
The Congress is tasked with assessing the implementation results of the Resolution of the Vietnam Civil Servants' Trade Union Congress for the 2018-2023 term; determining goals, tasks and proposing solutions for implementation in the 2023-2028 term; reviewing the leadership and direction of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Civil Servants' Trade Union for the 2018-2023 term.
In addition, the Congress will also elect the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Civil Servants' Trade Union for the 2023-2028 term; and contribute comments on documents submitted to the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union.
The goal set by the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Civil Servants' Trade Union for the 2023-2028 term is: "Focus on innovating the content and methods of trade union activities in a modern, practical and attractive direction; increase resources to effectively perform the tasks of representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers; proactively participate in state management and socio-economic management; actively participate in inspection, supervision and supervision; promote propaganda, mobilization and education of union members; build all levels of civil servant trade unions that are strong in politics, ideology, organization and staff; participate with Party committees and professional levels to build and improve the quality of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers; promote patriotic emulation movements and campaigns, contributing to building strong agencies and units, a prosperous and happy country".
Reporting on the results of the 2018-2023 term, comrade Nguyen Van Dong, member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Civil Servants' Trade Union, said that during the last term, the COVID-19 pandemic had a major impact on the country's economy and people's lives. However, most of the targets set at the beginning of the term were achieved and exceeded the plan. In particular, the work of caring for union members' lives received special attention.
Specifically, trade unions at all levels have supported cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers in difficult circumstances affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and 3 union members who died with a total amount of nearly 3.5 billion VND. Affiliated trade unions have supported 45 billion VND for more than 30,000 union members and workers.
Union members and workers have contributed and supported nearly 230 billion VND to social activities. For example, visiting and giving gifts to soldiers in Truong Sa, nursing centers for wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, people with meritorious services to the revolution, building houses of gratitude for policy beneficiaries...
During the term, 650 union shelters and gratitude houses were built and handed over, each house costing from 50 to 70 million VND, bringing joy to poor families and families in difficult circumstances.
In addition to the union budget, the affiliated unions have mobilized professional resources, increased socialization, and increased the amount of money to care for and support the beneficiaries during the term to 315 billion VND...
At the first working session, the Congress carried out the main contents: electing the Presidium, the Secretariat, the Delegate Qualification Examination Board; approving the Program and Working Regulations; approving the Report on the Qualification Examination of Delegates attending the Congress, the review report of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Civil Servants' Trade Union, term V; approving the Personnel Plan of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Civil Servants' Trade Union, term VI, term 2023 - 2028; and discussing in groups.
The 6th Congress of the Vietnam Civil Servants' Trade Union will take place over 2 days, from September 30 to October 1.
