Ken (from Japan, working in business) and his girlfriend Kanna recently had a short trip to Hanoi. They spent time experiencing the cuisine in the capital.

Ken revealed that because of the nature of his job, he often has to travel abroad, so he takes advantage of these occasions to make travel vlogs and explore cuisine.

Every time he comes to Vietnam, he usually only eats pho and banh mi. So on this trip, the Japanese guest wanted to try other dishes, including bun cha.

Ken and Kanna spent 3 days exploring Hanoi. In the picture, the couple sat on the sidewalk, enjoying bun cha.

The place where Ken and Kanna stopped was a famous bun cha restaurant on Hang Manh Street (Hoan Kiem District), which has been open for more than 60 years.

The time they visited was a weekend evening so there were a lot of customers. The sidewalk seats were almost full.

After looking at the menu, Ken and his girlfriend ordered 2 servings of bun cha and 1 plate of spring rolls. They were surprised because the meal was served in full, with raw vegetables and herbs such as bean sprouts, lettuce, perilla, etc.

Kanna said she was impressed by the attractive appearance of Bun Cha and was eager to try the taste of this dish. The Japanese tourist picked up a piece of vermicelli, dipped it in the fish sauce and put it in her mouth to enjoy.

Ken's girlfriend commented that the dish had a sweet taste, quite similar to tsukemen (Japanese dipping ramen noodles, enjoyed by dipping the noodles in the accompanying sauce) and somen (a type of thin Japanese noodles, usually served cold with a soy-based dipping sauce).

As for Ken, he was also surprised by the taste of the bun cha dish, continuously exclaiming "so delicious".

“This was my first time trying bun cha. It was so delicious that I can’t wait to try it again. I’ve decided to add it to my list of recommended places to eat,” Ken shared.

In addition to bun cha, the Japanese couple also had many compliments for the fried spring rolls. Ken's girlfriend could not hide her excitement, admitting that the spring rolls were delicious even though she did not really know what this dish was.

The Japanese guest picked up a big piece, praised the delicious dipping sauce and rich grilled meatloaf.

Ken said that the bun cha restaurant they went to is quite famous, on the list of 70 Michelin Selected restaurants (restaurants recommended by Michelin Guide) in 2023.

After enjoying bun cha here, he understood why this destination is always crowded. “I apologize for thinking that Vietnam only has banh mi and pho. It’s a pity that we didn’t know about bun cha sooner,” the Japanese man expressed.

It is known that in addition to bun cha, Ken and his girlfriend also enjoy pho, drink egg coffee, walk and shop in the old town at night,...
