Removing traffic bottlenecks

At the end of July 2020, the dredging project of Co Co River through Quang Nam province was officially implemented after many years of suspension. It is expected that when the project is completed, it will not only help with emergency flood drainage and prevent saltwater intrusion, but also create more attractive waterway tourism products connecting Hoi An - Dien Ban - Da Nang, forming a riverside resort urban system, promoting local socio-economic development. However, after more than 3 years of construction, the project has not yet reached its completion date.

It can be affirmed that transport infrastructure always plays a key role in local socio-economic development. However, this is also where many bottlenecks appear related to factors such as investment resources, administrative procedures, site clearance, etc. that need to be quickly resolved.

In Hoi An City, since the expansion of Nguyen Tat Thanh Street with DT607 and Hung Vuong Street with DT608 through Dien Ban Town, it has created favorable conditions for buses to take tourists in and out of Hoi An quickly, reducing traffic jams and overload in the city center due to the congestion of visitors.

In the Quang Nam planning for the period 2021 - 2030 with a vision to 2050, the Dien Ban - Hoi An - Dai Loc cluster is identified as the northern growth pole of the province and connected to the economic space of Da Nang city.

From there, a chain of riverside and coastal urban areas will be formed through roads and the Vu Gia, Thu Bon, and Co Co river systems, promoting the development of tourism corridors based on waterway traffic routes.

According to Mr. Tran Uc - Chairman of Dien Ban Town People's Committee, with the role of the northern gateway of the province, linking development with Hoi An City and Da Nang City, Dien Ban determined that traffic infrastructure will play a decisive role. This is even more urgent when the locality is aiming to become a type III urban area by 2030.

Therefore, in addition to investing in completing the infrastructure of urban and commercial housing development projects in the East and along National Highway 1, public investment resources will also focus on completing a number of key projects such as the northern beltway, Van Ly bridge and the connecting road to Cam Ly intersection; the connecting road to DT609B, Phong Thu bridge, dredging and beautifying the landscape of Co Co river, the central square of Go Noi area, the large square of Phuong An urban area, the new urban wastewater treatment system, etc.

In fact, in recent times, the upgrading and expansion of routes such as National Highway 1 through the town or the upgrading of Highway 608 connecting Hoi An City, Highway 607 connecting Da Nang City, Highway 609 connecting Dai Loc District... have created new impetus to promote traffic and strongly develop the economy and society in the town.

Connecting the East-West economic corridor

Looking at the map, the connection between the three localities of Hoi An - Dien Ban - Dai Loc and Da Nang City is in a quadrilateral shape based on a tight traffic network. If the coastal routes and DT607 play a role in connecting tourism between Da Nang and Hoi An, QL14B is considered a horizontal axis transporting industrial products from Dai Loc to Da Nang seaports.

According to Mr. Le Van Quang - Chairman of Dai Loc District People's Committee, as a locality located in the province's dynamic cluster, the growth pole in the north of Quang Nam, connecting the economic space of Da Nang City, the Central Highlands provinces and countries on the East-West economic corridor, the completion of the framework infrastructure and traffic infrastructure to promote the goal of inter-regional connectivity is always a top priority for the locality.

Over the years, with many support resources from the province and the central government, the intra-district and inter-regional traffic infrastructure system of Dai Loc has been continuously invested and completed.

Some routes such as DH3.DL connecting DT609B to QL14B (now DT609C route) through the communes of Dai An, Dai Cuong, Dai Minh, Dai Phong have been invested in and upgraded. In addition, the Tan Doi bridge project and the access road completed and put into use have helped to clear and connect DH12.DL route with QL14B, creating a driving force for economic development in the western region of the district.

In particular, the most prominent are key traffic works such as Giao Thuy Bridge and the road leading from Giao Thuy Bridge to National Highway 14B; the road connecting from National Highway 14B to Provincial Road 609C (including An Binh Bridge); the road connecting from Provincial Road 609C to National Highway 14H... contributing to the completion of the traffic infrastructure system, connecting Dai Loc with neighboring localities, creating a strong driving force for the socio-economic development of the locality.

“Dai Loc always determines that in order to develop the region, inter-region and area, transport infrastructure must be one step ahead. In the coming time, the District People's Committee will devote all resources, seek support from superiors, continue to invest in developing and completing transport infrastructure according to the approved plan.

At the same time, focus on removing and resolving difficulties in site clearance and resettlement arrangements, creating all conditions to complete works and projects according to the set plan," said Mr. Quang.

If Hoi An plays the role of an ecological, cultural, tourist, and international exchange urban area, Dien Ban is an urban area developing industry, science, and innovation, then Dai Loc is considered a gateway for agricultural development, services, and strategic inter-regional industrial connections.

In particular, the transportation system becomes a decisive factor in the process of intra-regional and inter-regional connectivity along the East-West economic corridor through National Highway 14B connecting from Nam Giang international border gate to Da Nang seaports, contributing to deepening the driving role of the Northern Quang Nam growth cluster as the planning goal set out by the province.
