Quynh Nhai District, Son La cooperates with a faculty of Vietnam Agricultural Academy to awaken tourism potential

On the morning of November 3, 2024, the Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University of Agriculture welcomed a delegation from Quynh Nhai district, Son La province to visit and work.

The Quynh Nhai district delegation was led by Comrade Bui Thai Son - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Quynh Nhai District Party Committee as Head of the delegation, along with members of the District Party Committee Standing Committee, Comrade Dinh Ngoc Vuong - Vice Chairman of the District People's Council, Comrade Lo Thanh Thuy - Vice Chairman of the Quynh Nhai District People's Committee and leaders of departments, branches, sectors, and organizations of the district, and representatives of the district's tourism enterprises.

Receiving and working with the delegation of Quynh Nhai district, on the side of the Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Languages, there were Dr. Nguyen Tat Thang - Party Cell Secretary, Head of the Faculty, Mr. Vu Xuan Nguyen - Chairman of IGB Group, digital transformation partner in tourism of the Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Languages, Dr. Ho Ngoc Ninh - Deputy Head of the Faculty, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Long - Chinese language expert, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thi Nga - Senior Lecturer, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hai - Lecturer of the Department of Tourism and Travel Management. Attending the working session and welcoming the delegation to visit some scientific and technological models were also scientists of the Academy: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kim Van Van - Head of the Faculty of Aquaculture, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Truong - Director of the Institute of Agricultural Biology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Hiep - Head of the Department of Science and Technology, Dr. Pham Van Hoi - Center for Agricultural Ecology.

Dr. Nguyen Tat Thang - Head of the Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University of Agriculture, delivered a welcoming speech to the delegation.

According to the Tourism Development Plan of Son La province, Quynh Nhai district is identified as one of the key tourist areas of the province. In recent years, Quynh Nhai district has been implementing synchronous solutions, reviewing, adjusting, supplementing, and promulgating mechanisms and policies, focusing on attracting investment in infrastructure construction, creating many unique tourism products, attracting domestic and foreign tourists. The Son La hydroelectric reservoir in Quynh Nhai district is likened to a miniature "Ha Long Bay" of the Northwest region, with towering mountain ranges surrounding the clear blue lake, and the majestic Pa Uon bridge connecting the two banks, all like a beautiful ink painting.

To exploit this potential and strength, in recent years, many investors have come to the lake area in Quynh Nhai district to invest and build many unique tourist areas and spots to attract tourists to visit and experience.

Mr. Lo Thanh Thuy, Vice Chairman of Quynh Nhai District People's Committee, said: To develop tourism, the local government is committed to creating a favorable environment to attract investors with the potential to build infrastructure to develop the district's tourism industry. Developing eco-tourism, community tourism, experiential tourism, adventure tourism and resort tourism, etc., associated with preserving and promoting national cultural identity, meeting the diverse needs of tourists in exploring, experiencing, enjoying traditional arts, entertainment, community cultural exchange, etc.

In addition to the potential and advantages of the locality, the district leaders also shared some difficulties in tourism development such as: to develop tourism, Quynh Nhai needs to solve the problem of human resources and infrastructure serving tourism, including the need to improve the transportation system to ensure convenient connection with famous tourist areas inside and outside the province such as Dien Bien, Sa Pa, Mu Cang Chai, Moc Chau; the locality needs to research and create more unique and different tourism products to create new attractions; build long-term inter-district tours by both waterway and road. Only then can we retain tourists to stay longer, thereby increasing tourism revenue and improving the lives of local people.

Understanding the concerns of the locality, the Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Languages ​​together with scientists and experts from the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture have made suggestions for local tourism development, and at the same time suggested models for developing agricultural tourism in the Da River reservoir, developing agriculture according to the value chain with crops and livestock suitable to the conditions of Quynh Nhai to develop tourism, renew and differentiate local tourism products, and promote digital transformation in tourism development.

Within the framework of the working program, the delegation of Quynh Nhai district visited the campus and experienced some high-tech agricultural models associated with tourism and experiential education at the Academy. In the coming time, Quynh Nhai district will continue to cooperate with the Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Languages ​​and scientists and experts of the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture to promote tourism development associated with the rapid and sustainable development of local agriculture, forestry and fisheries.
