On October 23, regarding the fire at a wedding hall in a church in the area, the People's Committee of Chau Duc district sent an "urgent" dispatch to the district police, departments, and chairmen of the People's Committees of communes and towns regarding the inspection of fire prevention work at facilities organizing crowded events.
Tables, chairs, and other items inside a wedding hall were burned down at noon on October 22 at a parish in Xuan Son commune, Chau Duc district.
Accordingly, the People's Committee of this district assigned the district police chief to direct the functional forces to handle and resolve the fire based on legal regulations and increase warnings in the coming time.
At the same time, direct the organization to review and inspect places that organize crowded events (such as wedding restaurants, halls, conference centers, including those of religious organizations...), and resolutely stop the operation of facilities that do not ensure fire prevention and fighting conditions according to regulations.
Preside over and coordinate the organization of training courses and professional development in fire prevention and fighting for production and business establishments, religious establishments, related organizations and individuals. Periodically summarize reports on the implementation of fire prevention and fighting laws according to regulations, and report ad hoc when incidents occur.
At the same time, the Director of the District Cultural, Information and Sports Center and the Chairman of the People's Committees of communes and towns are required to ensure fire prevention and fighting conditions when organizing crowded activities (renting premises for conferences, weddings, meetings, etc.) and be responsible to the District People's Committee if any risks occur, especially fires. The Chairman of the People's Committee of communes and towns must properly perform the State management function of fire prevention and fighting according to regulations.
The Head of the Department of Education and Training, Principals of high schools, boarding schools for ethnic minorities in the province; Directors of the District Continuing Education and Vocational Training Centers and Principals of schools in the district are responsible to the competent authorities when organizing crowded activities that cause fire risks (such as renting premises to organize conferences, weddings, meetings, etc.).
Inside the hall after the fire, estimated damage was nearly 2 billion VND.
As previously reported by Nguoi Dua Tin , at around 12:30 noon on October 22, a fire broke out at a parish in Xuan Son commune, Chau Duc district, causing the wedding hall located on the church grounds to be completely burned down.
At that time, the wedding of a local couple was taking place in the hall. While the guests were eating and drinking to celebrate their happiness, the orchestra suddenly had an electrical short circuit.
Flames erupted and smoke quickly spread across the stage, engulfing the entire hall. More than 500 wedding guests rushed outside to escape.
By 1:15 p.m. the same day, the fire was completely extinguished. The fire left one person slightly injured, the wedding hall was completely burned down, with estimated damage of nearly 2 billion VND.
