Each box of crispy Thai persimmons at the wholesale market is sold for 350,000 VND, equivalent to 35,000 VND per kilogram, 5,000-10,000 VND lower than Vietnamese goods.

Importing a quintal of Thai crispy persimmons, Ms. My Linh, owner of a fruit stall on Thong Nhat Street (Go Vap), said she sold out in two days. "This is the first time Thai crispy persimmons have arrived at the wholesale market, and they are very cheap. Therefore, I switched to selling this product instead of domestic persimmons," Ms. Linh said.

According to Ms. Thanh, a fruit stall owner at Ba Chieu market (Binh Thanh), Thai persimmons are bright yellow, of uniform quality, and sweet, so they attract customers. "Every day, I sell 3-5 boxes (boxes of 10 kg). The retail price of each kilogram of crispy Thai persimmons is 55,000-60,000 VND per kilogram, while Da Lat persimmons are 70,000-80,000 VND," Ms. Thanh said.

As a unit specializing in importing Thai persimmons, Ms. Mai in Tan Binh district said that this type is in season. This year, the production of persimmons from Thailand has increased so they are exported to Vietnam at attractive prices. Therefore, she imported a few tons to test sell every day.

"I am selling three types of roses from Thailand, China and Da Lat. Currently, Thai products have the lowest price, and their color and uniformity are better than the other two types," said Ms. Mai.

The leader of Thu Duc Agricultural Wholesale Market said that the square crispy persimmon imported from Thailand is the first product to be brought to the market to test the market. This type is popular with customers. The wholesale price at the market is 35,000 VND per kg (10 kg box).

This is a seedless persimmon, very sweet, not as astringent as Chinese or Vietnamese goods. In addition, each persimmon imported to Vietnam has a very fresh, green and eye-catching stem, so it is more competitive than Vietnamese and Chinese goods.

According to statistics from the Economic Department of Da Lat City, the persimmon growing area here is about 300-400 hectares. Da Lat persimmons are mainly grown in Xuan Tho, Xuan Truong, Ta Nung, with an annual fresh fruit output of over 12,000 tons. There are many types of Da Lat persimmons, harvested from August to November. Da Lat square-fruited crispy persimmons are currently retailing at 75,000-80,000 VND per kg, with a light green color. Round-fruited crispy persimmons are 55,000-70,000 VND per kg.
