TPO - To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory, the Central Youth Union organized the Journey "Dien Bien Phu - Aspiration for the Country" from April 24 to 27, 2024. The total resources to support localities within the framework of the Journey are more than 7.6 billion VND.

On April 22, the Central Youth Union held a press conference to inform about the Journey “Dien Bien Phu - Aspiration for the Country”. Attending the program were Ms. Nguyen Pham Duy Trang - Secretary of the Central Youth Union, Chairman of the Central Council of the Young Pioneers ; Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet - Secretary of the Central Youth Union, Chairman of the Central Vietnam Student Association.

3 journeys to Dien Bien

Mr. Nguyen Thai An - Head of the Central Youth Union's Propaganda Department said that in order to propagate and educate cadres, union members, and young people about the purpose, significance, historical value and great stature of the Dien Bien Phu Victory , from April 24 to July 27, 2024, the Central Youth Union organized the Journey "Dien Bien Phu - Aspiration for the Country ".

The journey took place with a series of activities to visit, give gifts, and show gratitude to the families of Dien Bien veterans , wounded and sick soldiers, families with meritorious services to the revolution, heroic Vietnamese mothers, and offer incense to commemorate heroic martyrs .

Within the framework of the journey, it will be organized into 3 branch journeys towards Dien Bien province, departing from provinces and cities and gathering in Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province on April 26, 2024.

The departure ceremony of the “Dien Bien Phu - Aspiration for the Country” journey will be held on April 24, at the historical site of Hanoi Flag Tower. Before the departure ceremony, the delegates will visit President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, offer incense at the Bac Son Monument for Heroes and Martyrs, and offer incense at the house of General Vo Nguyen Giap.

After the departure ceremony, the troops will be divided into 3 groups and travel in different directions to Dien Bien.

Accordingly, the journey " Dien Bien Phu - Aspiration of the Country ", with 44 delegates participating, departing from Hanoi, passing through the provinces of Hoa Binh, Son La and gathering in Dien Bien, along the route of route 1 of the journey "I love my Fatherland".

The journey “I love my Fatherland” was deployed by the Vietnam Youth Union at all levels, selecting 120 delegates who are Union officials and outstanding youth in various fields to participate in the journey. The journey will be divided into 2 routes, including: route 1 going through Hoa Binh and Son La provinces; route 2 going through Yen Bai, Lao Cai and Lai Chau provinces. Both routes will gather in Dien Bien province.

In the provinces the journey passes through, the delegates will visit and offer incense at historical sites; visit and present gifts to families with revolutionary contributions and families with preferential policies; inaugurate and present youth projects to families and students in difficult circumstances.

The journey "Students with national aspirations" was carried out by the Vietnam Student Association from April 24 to 27 in Dien Bien province. 70 outstanding students and outstanding Association officials from across the country participated in the journey.

The journey took place with a series of activities: visiting and giving gifts at Nam Vi Primary School, Muong Nhe District; offering incense at the memorial site of heroic martyr Tran Van Tho; saluting the flag at the border intersection of the three countries of Vietnam, Laos, and China; visiting and giving gifts to A Pa Chai Border Guard Station, having dinner and cultural exchange, campfire; exchanging traditional fire at Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum.

Total journey resources over 7.6 billion VND

In addition, the Central Council of the Young Pioneers organized the Dien Bien Young Soldiers Festival in Dien Bien province from April 24 to 26, with the participation of 200 children and 64 outstanding representatives from all over the country.

Within the framework of the festival, children will visit historical sites and red addresses; issue orders and participate in experiential activities "Little Dien Bien soldiers march in the footsteps of heroes" at historical sites in Dien Bien Phu city; organize the 5th National "Little Dien Bien Soldiers" Commendation Program in 2024.

Within the framework of the festival program, the Central Youth Union and the Central Council of Young Pioneers implemented social security activities with a total resource value of nearly 3.2 billion VND.

Speaking at the press conference, Ms. Nguyen Pham Duy Trang - Secretary of the Central Youth Union, Chairman of the Central Council of the Young Pioneers said that the Dien Bien Young Soldiers Festival was held for 3 days, with 3 different themes to help children be educated, experience and foster more pride in the Dien Bien Phu victory "famous in five continents, shaking the world", as well as love their homeland and country more. Through the festival and activities in Dien Bien Phu, children can express their gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh, General Vo Nguyen Giap, especially the sacrifices of their fathers and brothers, thereby having more motivation to continue the tradition of striving to study and practice according to the "5 teachings of Uncle Ho" to become useful citizens, contributing to their homeland and country.

On April 26, the delegations will gather in Dien Bien Phu City, Dien Bien Province to carry out many meaningful activities: offering incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs at the A1 National Martyrs Cemetery ; the art program " Dien Bien Phu - Aspiration of the Country", awarding prizes for the contest to learn about the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, launching the contest to learn about the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day.

The total resources to support localities within the framework of the Journey are more than 7.6 billion VND, of which the resources to support Dien Bien province are nearly 6.4 billion VND, and the resources to support the provinces of the Northwest cluster on the Journey route are more than 1.2 billion VND.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet - Secretary of the Central Youth Union, President of the Central Vietnam Student Association said that the Central Youth Union has been organizing many meaningful activities before, during and after the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory, with many contents, not only the journey activities of more than 400 delegates to Dien Bien.

This is a political activity with a very wide coverage, youth organizations with the Youth Union as the core all organize activities towards Dien Bien. Mr. Triet expressed his wish that the event is an opportunity to educate young people about the significance of the Dien Bien Phu victory. Each destination of the journey has its own highlights, carrying historical significance.

In particular, Mr. Triet said, this occasion is an opportunity for young people to meet and interact with historical witnesses because there are currently only 134 people who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign and are over 80 years old. "We hope that the stories of historical witnesses will be vivid lessons to propagate to youth union members across the country," Mr. Triet said.

Along with the activities of the journey, the Central Youth Union deployed activities for the entire delegation towards Dien Bien, such as: Organizing a contest to learn about the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory combined with the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Geneva Agreement on the cessation of hostilities in Vietnam; a contest to collect and learn about postage stamps for children with the theme "70 years of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory" through postage stamps"; launching publications to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory; coordinating with the Ministry of Education and Training to organize a drawing contest for teenagers and children about the Dien Bien Phu Victory and Dien Bien Phu today with the theme "Pride of Dien Bien Phu" for children nationwide.
