On September 20, the Long An Provincial Women's Union held a meeting to honor 100 outstanding godmothers and 100 orphans who overcame difficulties in the province in the period of 2021 - 2023.
Ms. Dang Thi Ngoc Mai, President of the Long An Provincial Women's Union, said that the province currently has 1,249 orphans, of which 135 are orphans due to Covid-19 and 1,114 are orphans due to other causes.
With the motto "Where there are orphans, there are godmothers", all levels of the association and its cadres take the lead in implementing activities to care for, nurture and sponsor orphans. Immediately after launching, 100% of the association's grassroots units responded to the organization and implementation.

After 3 years of launching the program, the association at all levels has mobilized and connected 305 "Godmothers" (221 direct Godmothers and 84 indirect Godmothers) to join hands to sponsor 409 orphans (135 orphans due to Covid-19 and 274 orphans due to other causes).
To help children feel loved and shared, the "Godmothers" have carried out many practical and effective activities such as: Taking children to school on the opening day of the new school year; mobilizing social support for notebooks, books, school supplies, uniforms, bicycles; supporting tuition fees and participating in proposing tuition reduction for children; giving health insurance cards to children; regularly visiting and giving over 2,160 gifts including sugar, milk, and necessities to children.
At the same time, create conditions for children to participate in recreational activities on the occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival, International Children's Day June 1, Vietnamese Family Day... mobilize and give 86 savings books to support study and living expenses for 269 children in difficult circumstances so that they can go to school with peace of mind.
“Godmothers will continue to actively participate and respond to the program through many specific and practical actions to continue to care for and support orphans in difficult circumstances in the province so that they are all sponsored and cared for, no child is left behind and can develop comprehensively,” the President of the Long An Provincial Women's Union hopes.
