On the morning of November 8, 2024, the Academy of Journalism and Communication organized a scientific workshop on "Viewpoints and solutions to continue researching, applying and creatively developing Ho Chi Minh's thought in developing Vietnamese press and media to 2030, with a vision to 2045", within the framework of the implementation of the State-level Project "Research, application and creatively developing Ho Chi Minh's thought in developing Vietnamese press and media in the renovation period" chaired by the Academy of Journalism and Communication.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Professor, Dr. Le Van Loi, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, emphasized that his instructions and teachings on the purpose of the country's press, the glorious mission of journalists and the requirements for press staff still remain valuable today and in the future. Researching, applying and creatively developing Ho Chi Minh's thoughts in the development of press and media in Vietnam is extremely important, serving as a "compass" to guide the country's press and media to develop in the right direction, becoming increasingly "professional, humane and modern" in the spirit of the 13th National Party Congress.
Prof. Dr. Le Van Loi, Standing Member of the Party Committee, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics delivered the opening speech at the Workshop.
In his report to the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Mai Duc Ngoc, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the School Council, Head of the project KX.02.31/21-25 emphasized that the 13th National Party Congress set out the requirement of "building a professional, humane and modern press and media". In that context, it is necessary to affirm that the core values of Ho Chi Minh's thought on revolutionary journalism are immutable and continue to be the "compass" for the development of domestic press and media, and need to be understood, applied and developed creatively, in accordance with the current practical situation. He affirmed that this is a difficult and complicated issue, requiring an objective and comprehensive assessment of how the research, application and creative development of Ho Chi Minh's thought in the development of press and media has been and is taking place in the past. In addition, it is necessary to accurately identify the issues, guiding viewpoints and major directions for solutions to continue researching, applying and creatively developing Ho Chi Minh's thoughts, especially his thoughts on the mission, tasks, qualities and capacities of modern journalists and media workers, requirements for press and media products in the current context - the context of digital transformation, science and technology and innovation, in order to promote the values of Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on revolutionary journalism.Assoc. The workshop received 52 presentations from leaders and scientists from central and local departments, ministries, branches, universities, press and media agencies nationwide. The delegates listened to 9 live reports and many profound, dedicated and responsible discussions from leaders and scientists , in which the main opinions focused on analyzing , explaining and clarifying scientific contents surrounding the theme of the workshop. Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Nhi Le, former Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine, shared that it is necessary to build a Vietnamese revolutionary press that is rich in fighting spirit, rich in humanity, professional and modern so that journalists can continue to practice their profession according to the motto of objectivity, respect for the truth, protection of justice and reason. To do that, each journalist must rise up, each press agency must rebuild the system to become more professional and effective. That is the inevitable path for every journalist and every press agency.Dr. Nhi Le, former Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Communist Magazine, presented a paper on "Issues arising from the current practice of press and media development"
Speaking at the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Ha Huy Phuong, Head of the Organization and Personnel Department, Academy of Journalism and Propaganda shared, Doing journalism is doing revolution - that is the viewpoint of President Ho Chi Minh, because according to him, revolutionary journalism is a battle front of the revolution. Journalists are also revolutionary soldiers, pens and paper are their sharp weapons. According to him, articles are revolutionary proclamations. As journalists, revolutionary soldiers, any writer on the revolutionary journalism front must clearly understand the goals and tasks of the revolution.Associate Professor, Dr. Ha Huy Phuong, Head of the Organization and Personnel Department, Academy of Journalism and Communication, presented the discussion "Learning from Uncle Ho to do revolutionary and professional journalism"
Dr. Nguyen Cong Dung, Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Party of Vietnam Electronic Newspaper, presented a paper entitled “Creatively applying Ho Chi Minh's thought, Vietnamese revolutionary press is constantly growing and maturing”
Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Quang Hien, Academy of Politics, Ministry of National Defense, presented the paper " Strengthening the leadership of the Party and the management of the State in researching, applying and creatively developing Ho Chi Minh's thought in developing Vietnamese press and media in the new period "
Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Dinh Xay, former Director of the Department of Political Theory, Central Propaganda Department, presented the discussion " Researching, applying and creatively developing Ho Chi Minh's thought in developing Vietnamese press and media in the new period must be associated with the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country in the direction of socialism "
MSc. Ngo Thi Phuong Thao, Deputy Head of Department, Deputy Head of People's Weekend Committee, Nhan Dan Newspaper, presented a discussion on " Applying Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on journalism in conjunction with protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints "
Journalist Nguyen Thai Binh, Head of the Northern Mountainous Region Representative Office, Vietnam Integration Magazine, presented a paper on " Viewpoints and solutions to continue researching, applying and creatively developing Ho Chi Minh's thought in developing Vietnamese press and media to 2030, with a vision to 2045"
Dr. Do Anh Duc, Institute of Journalism and Communication, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, presented a paper on “ Studying Ho Chi Minh’s ideology in developing journalism and communication in the digital transformation period ”.
In his closing remarks at the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Mai Duc Ngoc, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the School Council, Academy of Journalism and Communication, Head of Project KX.02.31/21-25, emphasized that the great contributions and developments that the Vietnamese revolutionary press has achieved are thanks to its imbibing and creative application of Ho Chi Minh's thought, ensuring the maintenance of the Party's leadership over the press, maintaining the political orientation and principles of the Vietnamese press, effectively serving the revolutionary cause of the Party and the Vietnamese people. At the same time, he affirmed that the comments and discussions of scientists at the workshop comprehensively assessed the achievements, while also pointing out the limitations, difficulties and challenges in researching, applying and creatively developing Ho Chi Minh's thought in the development of press and communication in Vietnam during the renovation period.Delegates take souvenir photos
