City Elderly Association summarizes activities in 2023 and deploys tasks in 2024

(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of January 18, the City Elderly Association held a conference to review the work in 2023 and deploy tasks for 2024. Attending the conference was Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Khac Nam.

In 2023, the City's Elderly Association at all levels will closely follow the plan, closely and effectively coordinate with units and localities to well organize activities to care for and promote the role of the elderly, such as coordinating longevity wishes, birthday celebrations, and gift giving from the President, the city and localities to 36,865 elderly people with a total value of more than 27.5 billion VND from the budget; helping local Party committees and authorities mobilize socialization to organize visits, give gifts, birthday wishes, and birthday celebrations to 41,810 elderly people with a total amount of more than 15.8 billion VND... The Association at all levels will promote the emulation movement "Old age - Bright example" associated with organizing the commendation of exemplary elderly people with good economic performance in the period of 2018-2023, the Elderly Singing Festival at all levels... The Association will admit 18,665 members, bringing the total number of members to 317,860.

On that basis, in 2024, the Association identified 10 key tasks, including promoting the emulation movement "Old age - Bright example" associated with implementing 3 key tasks, 3 major work programs; summarizing 5 years of the Movement of the Elderly participating in building the political system at the grassroots level (2019-2024); coordinating to effectively implement the Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam 2024; coordinating to inspect and supervise the implementation of laws and the National Action Program on the Elderly; coordinating with relevant departments, branches, unions and organizations to continue to effectively implement the Movements and Campaigns: "All people unite to build new rural areas; civilized urban areas"; participate in protecting and maintaining security at sea borders; participate in preventing crimes, social evils, maintaining political security, social order and safety, preventing fires and explosions; building cultural families, model families...

Speaking at the Conference, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee Le Khac Nam - Head of the City's Elderly Affairs Committee acknowledged and commended the results of the work for the Elderly in 2023. In order to fully complete the key tasks set out by the City Elderly Association, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee requested the Association to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on the Elderly. Enhance the responsibility of cadres and members of the Elderly Association, build a united Association, and promote collective strength. The Association at all levels continues to pay material and spiritual attention to poor and near-poor households with the Elderly; promote propaganda work so that people clearly understand the position, role, and contributions of the Elderly in the cause of economic and social development, building and defending the Fatherland in the new situation; Promote the core role of the Association at all levels in the movement "All people care for and promote the role of the elderly", strive for the elderly to live happily, healthily, and usefully...

The representative board of the Elderly Association of districts and towns signed the emulation agreement in 2024.

At the Conference, the Board of Representatives of the Association of the Elderly of the districts signed the emulation agreement for 2024. On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly awarded the Flag of the leading unit in the emulation cluster of the "Old Age - Bright Example" movement and the Association's work in 2023 to the City Association of the Elderly; the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly awarded Certificates of Merit to 5 collectives and 1 individual. The City Association of the Elderly awarded the Excellent Emulation Flag to 2 leading units of the district and county blocks and awarded Certificates of Merit to 10 collectives.
