On the morning of August 8, the National Steering Committee against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods (National Steering Committee 389) held a national online conference to review the work of the first 6 months of the year and deploy directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2024.
Comrade Tran Song Tung, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the conference at Ninh Binh bridge.
Comrade Tran Luu Quang, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the National Steering Committee 389 chaired the conference.

In recent times, the Steering Committee 389 of ministries, branches, provinces and cities has done a good job of leading, directing and thoroughly disseminating, requiring units and forces to strictly implement the directives of the Government, the Prime Minister, and the National Steering Committee 389 on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
At the same time, proactively develop plans to combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, and direct functional forces to develop plans suitable to the situation of their areas, units and localities for effective implementation.
In the first 6 months of 2024, the authorities detected and handled 64,185 violations. Of these, 6,042 cases of trading and transporting prohibited and smuggled goods were detected and arrested; 55,133 cases of trade fraud and tax fraud; 3,010 cases of counterfeit goods and intellectual property violations; more than VND 6,066 billion was collected for the state budget; 650 cases and 1,913 subjects were prosecuted.
In Ninh Binh, in the first 6 months of the year, the market situation and commodity prices were relatively stable, goods were diverse in types and designs, there was no shortage of goods, speculation, hoarding, or excessive price increases causing market instability.
The Provincial Steering Committee 389 continues to direct departments, branches, and functional forces to proactively monitor market developments, promptly detect fluctuations in supply and demand, and commodity prices, in which they continue to pay special attention to the petroleum market, strengthen market inspection and control, prevent and promptly handle acts of transporting and trading smuggled goods... In the first 6 months of the year, 600 violations were detected, 18 cases were criminally prosecuted, and the total amount of money collected was more than 10 billion VND.
In their discussions at the conference, delegates focused on clarifying a number of issues such as: Difficulties and obstacles in the fight against and prevention of activities that take advantage of e-commerce to trade in prohibited goods, smuggled goods, and goods of unknown origin; production and trading of counterfeit goods in craft villages; difficulties and obstacles in the fight against and prevention of taking advantage of the export and import of goods, goods exported and imported from bonded warehouses, and goods transit activities to smuggle and illegally transport goods and prohibited goods. At the same time, a number of recommendations and key solutions were proposed to improve the effectiveness of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Head of the National Steering Committee 389, assessed that in the first 6 months of the year, the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods was basically stable, with no outstanding or severe incidents.
Besides, drugs are still a burning issue, with many sophisticated tricks being used, violators taking advantage of gaps in law enforcement and related documents; taking advantage of digital applications and information technology to commit crimes...
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized: It is forecasted that from now until the end of the year, the demand for purchasing will increase, so agencies and units, according to their functions and tasks, should effectively implement solutions to prevent and combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; especially promoting the role of the heads of agencies and units. Strengthen coordination between agencies, sectors and levels in performing tasks and providing information. Strengthen inspection and supervision, thereby detecting loopholes and errors, and enhancing the implementation of public ethics.
Propaganda to raise consumer awareness. Units and localities review and advise on adjusting inadequate regulations. Increase the application of digital technology and information technology to deal with violations and perform tasks more effectively.
Besides, it is necessary to refer to international experience to have better solutions in implementing the work of preventing and combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
