On March 21, in Ha Long City, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Quang Ninh Province held a conference to deploy animal husbandry and veterinary work in 2025 and civil liability insurance for livestock owners in 2025.
In 2024, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has effectively implemented goals and tasks in animal husbandry and veterinary work. Currently, the total herd of livestock and poultry is generally stable, of which: The buffalo herd is 24,046 heads, the cow herd is 24,184 heads; the pig herd is 269,875 heads; the poultry herd is 5.7 million heads. Localities have organized 45 training courses on livestock breeding techniques and disease prevention. Proactively inspect, detect and coordinate with localities to handle 48 outbreaks/42 communes/9 districts and aquatic diseases. During the year, the Department has chaired and coordinated with localities to pilot the construction of 4 commune-level disease-safe zones for avian influenza. Up to now, the whole province has 15 animal disease-safe facilities and 5 commune-level disease-safe zones; 1 aquatic disease-safe facility...
In 2024, the province's livestock industry suffered heavy damage after storm No. 3 YAGI. To quickly overcome damage to barns and stabilize livestock production, the Department coordinated with local departments and professional units to guide livestock facilities to repair and clean barns, actively care for livestock and poultry after the storm, quickly stabilize production and organize the implementation of safe herd restoration measures.
To continue developing livestock and veterinary work, in 2025, the Department sets the goal of organizing safe livestock production to achieve the target of 5,852,500 cattle and poultry; total output of fresh meat of all kinds reaching 103,000 tons. Advise on developing policies to support livestock development, support natural disasters, animal diseases in the province; continue to implement the content of the chain project, organic project, breed project; focus on developing effective, sustainable livestock, applying high technology; encourage the development of native livestock breeds, advantages associated with community tourism models; strengthen the inspection of breeding facilities, sudden veterinary and food safety inspections of animal slaughterhouses...
Also at the conference, delegates discussed the advantages and solutions to overcome difficulties, demonstrating the determination of relevant units in promoting the sustainable development of the province's livestock and veterinary industry, contributing to improving economic life and livestock quality. The Department of Veterinary Medicine and Livestock has coordinated with Bao Viet Company to implement civil liability insurance for livestock owners in 2025.
