Conference of Young Scientists and Award Ceremony of Scientific Initiative Competition

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Hoang Giang said: In the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2045, the Party and State have high expectations for the fundamental role of science, technology and innovation, considering this a "strategic breakthrough" and "main driving force" to create a breakthrough in productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the economy. Vietnam strives to become a developing country with modern industry and high average income by 2030, and a developed country with high income by 2045.

According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Giang, that orientation and expectation puts the science and technology force in front of opportunities and challenges to innovate, so as not to fall behind, to develop faster, more substantially and sustainably. Thereby, contributing more effectively to national development goals in the medium and long term.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Giang emphasized that today's conference and award ceremony is a place where scientists, managers, authors and business representatives can connect, exchange and learn, and together look at and evaluate the practical problems that Vietnam is facing; from there, together find solutions, so that science and technology can participate deeply, best solve the problems that businesses and society are facing; support businesses to compete well in the market and bring better added value.

Within the framework of the conference, there was a panel discussion with the theme "Solutions to help businesses develop sustainably" and the Award Ceremony of the 2023 Science Innovation Competition. This is the second year that VnExpress Newspaper has organized the competition to create a playground for those who love science and technology, attracting a large number of professional and non-professional scientists to participate in creating solutions and products with valuable applications in life.

The competition was launched on December 2, 2022, with more than 130 applications. At the end of the preliminary round, the 30 best solutions entered the final round. At the final round, the authors and groups of authors presented their projects to the jury.

Through the evaluation process, the Organizing Committee of the competition awarded 6 prizes including: 1 First prize worth 70 million VND for the new Tir lens technology solution for high-power LED lights; 1 Second prize worth 50 million VND for the 3D navigation device solution in knee replacement surgery; 1 Third prize worth 30 million VND for the solution of the pre-germinated seed production process; 2 Encouragement prizes worth 10 million VND each for the solution of the pesticide spraying system using a cable car, the solution of tire rescue vehicle and replacement of spare tires for cars; and the Innovation prize worth 30 million VND for the solution of producing silk fibers from the snake plant.
