Exhibition booths promote investment, trade and tourism, prioritizing products with import and export demand through Lao Cai province's border gates, products that contribute to promoting Lao Cai tourism.

In recent times, the Department of Industry and Trade of Lao Cai has continuously organized trade promotion conferences for the fair. At the recent trade promotion conference, Mr. Hoang Chi Hien, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Lao Cai province, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 23rd Vietnam - China International Trade Fair (Lao Cai) said: The Vietnam - China International Trade Fair held in Lao Cai or the China - Vietnam Border Trade Fair held in Hekou, are annual, rotating trade promotion activities, increasingly affirming the role of "Bridge, connecting trade". This year's fair was held directly after the Covid-19 pandemic, which is the desire and expectation of many agencies, units and businesses on both sides.

The new point of this year's Fair held in Lao Cai is to focus on inviting the Departments of Industry and Trade, Trade Promotion Centers and carefully selected enterprises from provinces and cities of Vietnam with great potential and strengths in import and export to the Southwest - China market to participate in the Fair. Lao Cai is very welcoming to Chinese and Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the Fair to meet, research, survey, cooperate in investment and business for mutual development.

Previously, at the trade promotion conference held in early September, Lao Cai Department of Industry and Trade informed that the main activities taking place within the framework of the fair were as follows:

On the morning of November 10, 2023, at Muong Thanh Hotel, Coc Leu Ward, Lao Cai City, a delegation of Chinese and Vietnamese agricultural, forestry and fishery import enterprises will conduct trade transactions in Lao Cai province in 2023.

At 7:30 p.m. on November 10, 2023, at Kim Thanh Exhibition Center, Duyen Hai Ward, Lao Cai City, Lao Cai Province, the opening ceremony and fair will take place.

On November 11, 2023, at Muong Thanh Hotel, Coc Leu Ward, Lao Cai City, there will be a Trade and Economic Cooperation Talk between Lao Cai Province (Vietnam) and Yunnan Province (China); Forum to discuss investment attraction policies and logistics activities, Vietnam - China import and export; Visit and survey some tourist attractions of Lao Cai Province.

On November 15, 2023, at the Hall of the Center for Industrial Promotion and Trade Promotion, the Closing Ceremony of the Fair will take place; A quick report on the fair results will be given, and awards will be given to individuals and groups with achievements contributing to the success of the fair.

The Vietnam - China International Trade Fair is an important trade promotion activity to promote cooperation, economic development, investment, tourism and services between Lao Cai and localities of Vietnam with localities of China, especially Yunnan province (China); Contributing to enhancing trade exchanges between the two sides, boosting import and export turnover through Lao Cai international border gate, helping businesses learn about and penetrate the Chinese market.

China has always been an important trade partner of Vietnam. A report from the Ministry of Industry and Trade shows that in the first 8 months of 2023, the import-export turnover between Vietnam and China exceeded 100 billion USD, estimated at 103.92 billion USD.

In the first 8 months of 2023, China was our country's second largest export market with an estimated export turnover of 35.79 billion USD, an increase of 0.1% over the same period last year.

On the other hand, China is still Vietnam's largest import market with an estimated turnover of 68.13 billion USD, down 17% over the same period last year.

China has been Vietnam's largest trading partner for many years. In 2018, the bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and China reached 100 billion USD (according to statistics from the General Department of Customs), this is the first market to reach this record number.

Currently, China is an important market for many key export groups such as: Phones and components; computers, electronic products and components; machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts...

Notably, China is still the largest customer of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables, accounting for nearly 65% ​​of the turnover. In addition to the popular durian, jackfruit will soon be added to this market. China is also considering allowing Vietnamese fresh coconuts to be officially exported to the market.

In Lao Cai, according to the Lao Cai Department of Industry and Trade, the total value of import and export, purchase and sale, and exchange of goods through Lao Cai border gates in the first 8 months of 2023 reached more than 1.3 billion USD, down 9.78% over the same period in 2022 and equal to 26.06% of the annual plan.

Of which, the export value reached over 575 million USD, down 9.81% over the same period in 2022 and equal to 26.77% of the annual plan; the import value reached over 331 million USD, down 14.08% over the same period in 2022 and equal to 38.09% of the annual plan; other types reached 396.18 million USD, down 5.78% over the same period in 2022 and equal to 20.01% of the annual plan.
