At approximately 12:20 p.m. on June 2, 2024, at the exit lane of the Lao Cai International Border Gate Management Center, female passenger Zhong Hongyan, Chinese nationality, born on November 14, 1959, completed exit procedures to China. When reaching the steps, the passenger slipped and fell, the back of her head touching the floor, causing bleeding and dizziness.

While on duty in this area, observing the above situation, Major Bui Giang Nam, Deputy Station Chief of Lao Cai International Border Gate Border Guard Station, Lao Cai International Border Gate Border Guard Station quickly moved to assist the passengers, coordinating with other functional forces present in the area to provide first aid and temporary bandages for the victims.

Officers of Lao Cai International Border Gate Border Station took the victim to Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment.

Seeing that the passenger's head wound was bleeding profusely and was dangerous, Major Bui Giang Nam reported to the unit commander. Immediately afterwards, a working group of four border guards: Major Dao Van Ninh, Head of Lao Cai International Border Gate Border Station; Major Bui Giang Nam, Deputy Head of Lao Cai International Border Gate Border Station; Captain Nguyen Hoai Nam and Lieutenant Colonel Trieu Lien Bang, staff of Lao Cai International Border Gate Border Station, took passenger Zhong Hongyan to Lao Cai General Hospital for emergency treatment. Lao Cai International Border Gate Border Station also sent Lieutenant Colonel Duong Phu Cuong, staff of the station, to connect, contact and support relatives of the above passenger to enter Vietnam to coordinate medical care for the passenger.

Border guards of Lao Cai International Border Gate Border Station exchanged information with the family of passenger Zhong Hongyan about treatment direction.

After being admitted to the hospital, the border guards exchanged information and health status of the passenger with the doctor and medical staff, completed the admission procedures and paid the hospital fees. Then, the passenger was taken for a CT scan as prescribed by the doctor. After receiving the results of the examination, CT scan and consultation with the doctor, determining that there were no serious health problems, Mr. Feng Jialiang, the husband of passenger Zhong Hongyan, wrote a commitment, requesting to take his wife to China via Lao Cai International Border Gate for further treatment. The Lao Cai International Border Gate Border Guard Station completed the exit procedures for Ms. Zhong Hongyan and Mr. Feng Jialiang on the afternoon of June 2, 2024.

Major Bui Giang Nam, Deputy Station Chief of Lao Cai International Border Guard Station, said: When passenger Zhong Hongyan was brought home for treatment by his family, the station's officers returned to their daily work and duties with peace of mind. The busy work dragged the above story back to the past until the afternoon of June 15, 2024, when passenger Zhong Hongyan and his family returned to thank the officers of Lao Cai International Border Guard Station.

After her health stabilized, Ms. Zhong Hongyan and her family returned to thank and present the Lao Cai International Border Gate Border Station with a banner.

During the meeting, Ms. Zhong Hongyan’s family expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the enthusiastic and thoughtful help of the Lao Cai International Border Gate Border Guard Station officers, who helped her overcome her difficulties and stabilize her health. The family also presented the unit with a banner with the words (in both Vietnamese and Chinese): “Thank you Lao Cai International Border Gate Border Guard Station”.

With the slogan "Civilized, polite, open-minded, and affectionate", the border guards on duty at Lao Cai International Border Gate Border Station always strive and are determined to complete their assigned tasks well, creating the most favorable conditions for passengers when completing exit and entry procedures across the border. This is not the first time that border guards at Lao Cai International Border Gate Border Station have helped and supported passengers. During the course of performing their duties over the years, they have often supported elderly and infirm passengers to move quickly and conveniently. Border guards have also helped many domestic and foreign citizens find their lost identification documents, assets, and personal belongings at the border gate area.

The stories, good deeds, and kindness of the border guards at Lao Cai International Border Gate Border Station and Lao Cai International Border Gate Border Post mentioned above once again spread and beautify the image of dedicated, exemplary, responsible, and kind border guards, contributing to building a peaceful, friendly, stable, and jointly developing border, contributing to the traditional friendship, for the common development and prosperity between the two provinces of Lao Cai (Vietnam) - Yunnan (China) and the two countries of Vietnam - China.
