A special reunion recently took place in Ho Chi Minh City, in the warm atmosphere of the celebration of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, last night, November 17. Teachers and former students of Quang Ngai High School from many generations met together in the "Quang Ngai High School Reunion".

60 teachers, nearly 500 former students and guests from 15 high schools in Quang Ngai province, currently living and working in Ho Chi Minh City, all happily and sadly reunited in an evening filled with love, recalling beautiful memories under the roof of their old high schools.

Mr. Le Tin Dung, a former student of Tran Quoc Tuan High School, Quang Ngai, a retired university lecturer, currently the Head of the Quang Ngai High School Alumni Liaison Committee, confided to Thanh Nien Newspaper reporter: "Last night, many former students came to hug me. We were all happy, moved, and delighted to meet again in such a meaningful atmosphere of celebrating Vietnam Teachers' Day. We cannot describe the happiness and positive energy we had."

Emotional teacher-student meeting in Ho Chi Minh City

In Mr. Le Tin Dung's mind, the image of teachers over 70, 80 years old, walking unsteadily, having to be supported by students on stage, speaking with trembling voices when sharing and talking with students last night, November 17, is an emotional memory that is hard to forget. The image of teachers, the voices of teachers, although decades have passed, but now in Ho Chi Minh City, generations of students can hear them again, making everyone recall their passionate, enthusiastic student days at their hometown high school in Quang Ngai.

Mr. Le Tin Dung said that the Alumni Liaison Committee of Quang Ngai High School in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces had organized a meeting of alumni also in Ho Chi Minh City with about 400 participants 5 years ago. The Covid-19 pandemic appeared, and it was not until yesterday that the reunion between teachers and alumni of 15 high schools in Quang Ngai was resumed after many years of interruption.

The lyrics and songs make people remember their school days.

Over the years, the Quang Ngai High School Alumni Association has organized many events to meet and exchange. However, last night, everyone was surprised because for the first time, there were so many members participating.

Last night, the Quang Ngai High School Liaison Committee coordinated with the Quang Ngai Returning to My Hometown Volunteer Club to award scholarships to 20 poor and excellent students. The scholarship recipients are all children of Quang Ngai, have the will to study and excel, and are currently studying at universities and colleges in Ho Chi Minh City.

The representative of the alumni association of Quang Ngai High School said that in many schools, class reunions and school reunions, where students of different generations in the same school meet and show gratitude to their teachers, are familiar. However, when alumni of the high school association - many high schools in the same province, whether they are working in Ho Chi Minh City or elsewhere, still regularly keep in touch, meet, exchange, and organize many meaningful activities, it is a story of culture and tradition.

"Quang Ngai is a land famous for its tradition of respecting teachers, studious students, good students, overcoming difficulties, and talent. Many Quang Ngai children have grown up from the old high school, now famous, successful people, returning to help their homeland. We are very proud that over the years, together with the Quang Ngai High School Alumni Association, we have connected teachers and successful alumni in many fields, to meet and contribute many ideas to help our homeland become stronger," said Mr. Le Tin Dung.
