Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just officially issued a decision on adjusting the Lunar New Year holiday schedule in 2025.
Students of Tran Hung Dao Primary School (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) participate in fun activities during the spring festival.
The decision of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued on the afternoon of December 12 stated that considering the proposal of the Department of Education and Training in the report No. 7903/TTr-SGDĐT dated December 6, 2024 on the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday schedule of the Education and Training sector, the City People's Committee approved the proposal of the Department of Education and Training to unify the adjustment of the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday schedule for preschool education, general education and continuing education in Ho Chi Minh City from January 23, 2025 (ie December 24, Giap Ty year) to February 2, 2025 (ie January 5, At Ty year).
Thus, students in Ho Chi Minh City will have a total of 11 days off for Lunar New Year in 2025, 2 days more than the previous plan.
Previously, according to the Lunar New Year holiday schedule stipulated in the 2024-2025 school year time plan issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, this school year, preschool children, primary school students to high school students in Ho Chi Minh City will have the Lunar New Year holiday starting from January 25, 2025 (ie December 26th of the lunar calendar) to February 2, 2025 (ie January 5th of the lunar calendar). Including weekends before and after the prescribed time, students in Ho Chi Minh City will have a total of 9 days off.
With 9 days off for Tet, many parents expressed their opinions that the short time is not suitable for the conditions of parents who are workers from other provinces. In addition, assessing the actual implementation of the plan of schools in Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Education and Training has submitted to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee a request to change the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday to be suitable and ensure enough time to implement the school year plan.
Therefore, on December 6, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City proposed to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to change the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday by adding 2 more days than previously planned.
