On September 3, Mr. Tran Van Luyen, Principal of Hong Bang Secondary School (District 5, Ho Chi Minh City) said that at the end of August, at the national final round of the Robotacon WRO 2023 competition held in Hanoi, Hong Bang Secondary School sent 7 teams to participate, of which 5 teams won prizes. Of which, 2 teams won championships, one team won second prize, one team won third prize and one team won consolation prize.

In particular, 12 students were selected by the organizing committee to be on the list of students participating in the Robotacon WRO 2023 World Championship held in Panama this coming November.

However, speaking to Thanh Nien Newspaper reporter, Mr. Tran Van Luyen said that to bring students to the world championship in Panama, in addition to 12 students, there are also 3 coaches, a total of 15 people. According to the school's research and survey, the cost of travel, accommodation and meals for about 9 days of participation in Panama is at least 1.3 billion VND.

According to the head of Hong Bang Secondary School, at the national final round, the group of students who lost and were selected to participate in the world championship were awarded 100 million VND. Students, parents and the school all shared the same wish to contribute the prize money to participate in the world competition. However, this amount of money "is still like a drop in the ocean compared to the huge cost of participation. Because this year the world competition is held in Panama, it is too far away and inconvenient to travel, so financial support is needed because the school is a public educational institution and has no source of funding for this. Last year the world competition took place in Thailand so students had better conditions to participate", said Mr. Luyen.

Faced with the difficulties, the Principal of Hong Bang Secondary School said the school will try its best to help students participate in the world championship.

"After this holiday, the school will have a specific report to the District Party Committee, People's Committee, and Department of Education and Training of District 5. Based on the direction of superiors, the school will carry out preparations and call for financial support for students to participate in the Robotacon WRO 2023 competition," shared the Principal of Hong Bang Secondary School.
