According to UMB President Farouk Barki, the 2024 Carom 3-Cushion World Championship and UMB General Assembly Session in Binh Thuan will not be affected by the suspension order and will still take place as scheduled.

On August 1, at the 12th Binh Duong International 3-Cushion Billiards Tournament, competing for the Becamex IJC Cup, the Organizing Committee issued a press release from the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation (VBSF), stating that the 3-Cushion Carom World Championship and the 2024 UMB General Assembly in Binh Thuan will not be affected by the suspension order and will still take place according to the announced schedule.
Specifically, in response to the letter of the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation, Mr. Farouk Barki, President of the World Billiard Carom Federation (UMB), affirmed that these events, with the participation of leaders of Billiard Carom Federations from countries around the world, are not affected by the suspension order. These are two major events and are especially meaningful to Billiards & Snooker in particular and Vietnamese sports in general.
Currently, the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation is actively working and explaining to international federations to limit the consequences of the suspension. At the same time, VBSF is also researching and proposing to the state management agency of sports to supplement legal regulations to avoid similar cases in sports activities, especially Billiards & Snooker.
VBSF strictly implements and actively recommends organizations and individuals to comply with international sports regulations. Meanwhile, this August, a tournament under the PBA system was licensed by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports. This is also the first tournament to take place outside of the territory of Korea - the home country of this system.
The event could make the situation more tense and affect the Carom content of Vietnam. The Department of Physical Training and Sports has sent Official Letter No. 1534/CTDTT-TTTTCII to the Department of Culture and Sports of Hanoi City requesting consideration of granting licenses to organize tournaments that are not recognized by the World Federations.
Previously, the Asian Billiards Sports Federation (ACBS) sent a notice to the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation (VBSF) stating that all officials, athletes, and coaches of VBSF will be banned from attending, participating in, or organizing any events, tournaments, or activities related to Billiards in Asia and internationally for 6 months, from June 13, 2024 to January 12, 2025, including the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (in November in Thailand). The reason for the penalty is that Vietnam organized a tournament not licensed by ACBS, the Hanoi Open Pool Tournament in October 2023.
In addition, Hanoi city also plans to continue hosting this pool tournament next October and the PBA (Korean Professional Billiards Association) tournament.
At noon on August 1, Tran Quyet Chien, the world's top billiards player, was still participating in the 12th Binh Duong International 3-Cushion Carom Billiards Tournament, competing for the Becamex IJC Cup.
Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong Vinh are two championship candidates of the Carom 3 Billiards Tournament being held in Binh Duong./.
